what is the mini USB spec required to charge BB
I have wired a single mini-USB onto my motorcycle to provide power to any one of several devices including a garmin, my mp3 player, and I'd like to use it to charge my old BB. currently i have only connected the power and ground wires to the mini-USB cord.
i read someplace that BBs will not stay in charging mode if there is no "signal" on the other two data wires. i have found that to be true and unfortunately, i cannot find that post. i'd like to build a circuit to supply the needed voltage to the data wires such that my BB will charge. does anybody know what is required? |
Re: what is the mini USB spec required to charge BB
i have found some guidance on other forums suggesting that simply "shorting" the #2 and #3 data wires together with #1 and #4 wired to power and ground may do the trick.
can anybody confirm this should be expected to work? |

this did not work. bb phone still will not charge off this wired power connection. it starts to, then stops. other mini-usb devices such as mp3 player charge off this connection just fine. i remember reading of a simple circuit described as required to make this charging connection work. can anyone point me in the right direction?

i did the same thing on my bike. all you need to do is wire the two data cables together. it works fine.
