facebook wont work on wifi after upgrading bb app world

Hi,

I am new to blackberry. Just recently got the torch 9860. I am on a voice plan only by Rogers ie no data plan.
I use wifi whenever home or at hotspot.

I see a wierd issue and I have seen this multiple times.
The app facebook , twitter work fine initially , on wifi network.

I installed the latest version of blackberry app world. After it was installed and the bb restarted i see that the facebook , twitter apps do not work.

I get the message "you are currently on a service plan that does not supports this application. Please connect to a wifi network or contace your service prrovider to upgrade your data plan"

I am already connected to wifi and can access internet through browser , youtube etc . but not through these apps.

is this a known issue.? how do i resolve this?

i saw this issue earlier when i downloaded the weather app. I resetted the bb to factory settings to overcome this.

thanks

You need to get a blackberry data plan.

Thanks for the reply.

Is this a limitation of the app?

I can access facebook through the browser via wifi , only not through the blackberry facebook app.
thanks,

Yes . The cellphone is using the carriers network to run and without a BB data plan most Apps wont work. Also carriers do block WiFi service books when they find a BB without a BB data plan. Your's just has not got around to it yet. Example, ATT finds it very quick where other take time.
