8700 looses bluetooth connection
Hi
I have tried the BlackBerry 8700 bluetooth handsfree with a Lexus and a BMW. In both the cases, the connection restores itself within 30 seconds, however just wanted to check if anybody else has experienced the same/has a workaround for this. |
Sorry - I meant to say the blackberry looses the connection with the handsfree and then restores itself after around 30 seconds. I have tried three different BlackBerry handsets (8700s) in two different cars. Previously had the 7100 and it worked without this problem

I have the axact same issue - my MOTO850 will connect to my 8700 and stay connected (thankfully) while on a call, but when idle, I see it lose its connecion and then recoonect every minute or so. It is very annoying and I wonder what is up? It cannot seem to simply stay connected.

Bluetooth drop
I have been experiencing the same problem with a Moto HS801 headset. Am very curious to hear if the 8700 needs a firmware update.

i have a bmw and every thing is good to go, i never had that problem, but i have just resently changed my software on my phone, b/c it crashed when i was installing an app
|
Apparently v4.1.280 has this issue resolved. Now I am wondering if there is a way to upgrade my existing Vodafone phone to this firmware - even if Vodafone has not released it. You can get the software from the Rogers website.
|
Download it, install it, delete the Vendor.xml file, connect your BB and launch desktop manager, when you try to run the application loader it should prompt you to upgrade. Goes without saying make sure you do a backup before you get started.
|
Thanks - software upgraded - now let's see if this resolves the issue.

Nope - no luck - same problem

Same problem here. It drops every 30 seconds in Lexus 06 GS300. Running v4.10.284

I'm running the T-Mobile 8700g with 4.1.284 and am experiencing the same issue. I find though, that different bluetooth headsets behave differently!
Using a newer Sony Ericsson HBH-610a, if it loses the connection, I need to reconnect it either using the button on the headset or the "connect" command from the bluetooth app on the BB. However, using my older Jabra BT800 (firmware .34) I notice the loss of connection, but then it immediately re-connects! A little annoying, but at least it forces itself to remain connected! |
I'm having the same problem with the handsfree system in a Prius.
Connect. Lost. Connect. Lost. Over and over. Maddening. |
Is there anyway to download a patch.to my device (cingular) without having a pc handy?
I had a 7100 and it worked perfectly. I wasn't expecting tjhiss issue. |
I have had similar intermittent problems with my BB 8700g on T-Mobile connecting to my car (BMW 2006 5 series). It has OS v. 4.1.0.284 It initially connected OK and the address book transfered over no problem. But about an hour later, everything started getting screwed up. The phone disconnected from the car Bluetooth and won't re-connect again. I tried rebooting the phone, deleting it from the car, rebooting idrive, etc. The bluetooth on/off switch in idrive would get stuck (won't turn off). When this happened, the phone didn't recognize the car's bluetooth device anymore.
After rebooting idrive, the phone worked again for a short period, then the same issues started again. About a month ago, I had used an 8700c with the car for several days with no problems at all. It could be a device issue, but I suspect it's an idrive software problem. I think the software was upgraded by the VDC upon redelivery from Europe. BMWNA says that the 8700g (T-Mobile) is not an approved device, so they can't really help, but the 8700c (Cingular) is an approved device (whatever that means - aren't they really the same device but on different mobile carriers? Not sure if it's a software issue on the BB OS T-Mobile's v4.1.0.284 versus Cingular's v4.1.0.194 or a problem with BMW's software. Any help or thoughts on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, AG |
Yeah, I've got an 8700g (T-mobile) that I've sync'd with my BMW 650 over bluetooth with a few test addresses. My BB OS is current but I'm having trouble dialing out through the iDrive system using those addresses.

I just downgraded 8700g (T-mobile) software from version v4.1.0.284 to v4.1.0.194 and stil no go. Only stays connected for firt session and then start dropping when you get into the car second time.

I've just started experiencing this issue.
My first 8700 was fine with my Jabra JX-10. The 7130c I have does this all the time with the JX-10. Drops the BT connection then re-connects itself a few seconds later. I recently picked up a Nokia BH-800 and a replacement 8700 and the same thing happens with it. |
so the question is...
IS this just something we should live with? It must be a BB issue and friends with the RAZR tell me they do not have nay bluetooth issues. I was about to go out and buy a new BT headset thinking I have a bum headset. But if you are all seeing the same thing, I will sae my money. I swear, I was told by so many folks that the 8700 had bluetooth built from "the ground up" and was much better hean previous models. I agree - it is better than my 7100g, but jees, this is a bit ridiculous. I mean - all cell phone makers seem to have implemented bluetooh pretty successfully - there should be no reason RIM should screw this up. If they truly can't make headsets - let MOTO or Samsung do their BB's from now on.

I have the same issue with my 8700g and a Sony Ericsson HCB700 carkit. Connects fine but loses connection intermittendly. Mainly after I hang up on a phone call, the BT loses connection. I have to press the search button on the kit to re-establish a connection. very annoying :(
