Camera does not work.. Help please..

Just bought 9530 storm.. Current OS is .75

Whenever I run the camera, it says "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again."

There is no other application running, but it still says that. I remove the battery and reboot several times, it does not help.

Can someone help me?

Do you have a media card in your device? Try removing that, doing a battery pull (leave the card out) and see if the camera works without the card.

Thought I read that somewhere here that the media card can cause this type of issue...could be wrong.

I removed the media card and did a battery pull and it is still giving the same message.

are you connected to a BES, if so it could have been disable by your BES admin

yes, i did that once.. camera works without the media card. then, i inserted the card again and the camera still worked for about 5 minutes.. after that, the phone rebooted by itself for 3 times.. after that, i am back to the beginning. i cannot use the camera again..

is there a solution to this?

Have you done a complete OS wipe?

Could possibly have a defective camera, have you talked to Customer Service?

Strixxx 01-21-2009 11:29 AM

I did a complete wipe and restarted my phone and I am still receiving the same camera error message. I contacted Telus Mobility's Data & Network Assistance Blackberry department, and they told me they had never heard of this problem before. They also told me that if the problem remains after the full wipe has been completed, then it is a hardware issue, as a full wipe restores the phone to factory settings. He told me to take the phone back to the store.

well i bought the phone in the US, and now i am back at my home country.. so i cant return for a replacement.. :(

if i remove the media card, i can use camera for a certain period.. after that, I receive the same error message..

Noverina 01-21-2009 09:10 PM

i dont think its a hardwarre problem.. because when i remove my media card, i can use the camera sometimes..

Noverina 01-29-2009 09:46 PM

nobody has the solution? other than getting a replacement?

XelhaBB 01-30-2009 10:13 AM

Noverina, you could contact the vendor and obtain an address to mail the camera in for a replacement model.

Are you unlocking the phone to run it on a foreign carrier?
