Synching CDMA curve with an Apple Computer? Help!

Ok,

So my 8830 has never had a problem synching with my macbook pro and now all of sudden, my new 8330 curve will not synch at all. I just want to move my contacts and calendar appointments over.

I spoke with vzw online tech support and they said there is currently no option for Mac. This has really ruined what should have been a great day with my new phone! If anyone has any ideas or software downloads, please offer up your suggestions. Thanks.

Chris

Well, you obviously didn't get far with VZW tech support as there is an option. However, it could be that there is a bug in the PocketMac software.

I'm moving to Mac user's forum.

Crap, I hope this gets fixed soon because I am buying an 8330 on Friday and I have a Macbook Pro! There has got to be some way, but this isnt the first time VZW has snubbed Mac owners. I bought their Music Manager pack for my LG enV and it was not compatible with my Mac!

I only said there *could* be a bug. I suggest borrowing a PC and doing a backup of the old device and a restore to the new device. Then see if you can get it to sync with PM. At least you'd have your data to start with.

so you said that there was an option in your previous post....what is that option? I have pocketmac on my computer and thats not working out so well with my 8330.

John Clark 05-07-2008 11:10 PM

PocketMac is the option. The only option. Can you run Parallels or BootCamp or such to get into a Windows Environment? You can run Desktop Manager from there, if so. If not, PM is your only option.

The Missing Sync by Mark/Space is also a good option. (Better than PocketMac in my opinion.)
The Missing Sync for BlackBerry - Synchronize Mac OS X and BlackBerry

Not free, but if you're looking for a good sync solution... this may be worth it to you.

Also, ignore the ignorant posts by users such as the one above me. It's not the first time that user has thread-crapped in a Mac related thread. Obviously, they have no experience with Macs and haven't realized what they're missing. ;-)

Dang! I forgot about MissingSync.

*removed said post.

Are people actually buying windows and running bootcamp just to sync their BB's? Thats a bit much for me. I love apple, and I personally wouldn't ever put any version of windows on my mac.

I will take a look at the markspace option...but i'm afraid that their version might not be compatible with Mac either. I guess I'll have to check it out.

Thanks for the replies, and if anyone has any other options please feel free to chime in!

Putting a Windows environment on your Mac can come in pretty handy for other things besides your BB. Suit yourself.

cwcanty 05-08-2008 01:14 PM

I know, I know....But I have a windows computer for work that I have to suffer through, lol. So I like my mac to be windows free. And yes I did try to install the BB desktop manager on my work pc and it would not let me do it....

I'm Ditto'ing the pocket mac not working with 8330's from verizon. Just got mine today and my pocket mac won't sync it. keep getting error 1 skipping... LAME... emailed PM waiting for a response

Stang68 05-09-2008 09:13 PM

So right now no one has been able to sync their 8330 with their Mac yet? No calendar events from Entourage or anything like that?

Let me know what you find. I got the same error and I also emailed pocket mac. I'm sure by next week plenty of people will be emailing them so hopefully they will create a quick fix to this problem.

Its really disapointing that BB has not created a desktop manager for both Mac and PC that they update frequently. Pocketmac is okay, but the PC desktop manager is much better in my opinion. And they would never put the PC version in the box without checking to make sure it worked.

A big middle finger to mac users from verizon and RIM.

Nope...not happy about it either. I had to go into a corporate store to have my contacts moved over from my 8830.

apple85 05-09-2008 09:37 PM

I'm pissed because I didn't have them move them because I figured a curves a curve and if my ATT curve synced so should this one! I even downloaded the pocketmac update from the RIM web site... STILL DOES NOT WORK........ FRUSTRATED

cwcanty 05-09-2008 09:44 PM

yep I downloaded the update and it wouldn't even open up on my MacBook Pro

cwcanty 05-09-2008 10:07 PM

Ok, I got my mac to sync with the curve. Pocketmac emailed me a new program that worked this time!

Email me if you want/need the download update and I will forward you the email I got.

[email address]

Stang68 05-10-2008 05:05 AM

Really? Great, nice job! But, shouldnt they just make the update available to everyone instead of making you give it to people that ask? lol

John Clark 05-10-2008 05:20 AM

Yes, unless it's some protected info (which it likely isn't if they just emailed it to you,) you can post a link or the patch for the rest of the folks.
