8320 / .184 "known issues"

Why don't we have a "known issues" thread so we don't all waste out time searching the same things over and over again.

* 8320 will not tether via USB or BT (no drivers / bug).

Converting Videos for 8320 (sticky?)

Media Manager is included in 4.2 and higher versions of the Desktop Manager. there are times when it doesnt install, or cancels the install and i havent really seen a reason for the times it does this. search the RIM KB articles on how to install it. I would recommend actually backing down to 4.2SP2 rather than 4.3 as there are not as many bugs in 4.2sp2 as in 4.3

DM downloads BlackBerry Desktop Manager Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ.com
Video How to How do I encode video for use on my device? - BlackBerryFAQ.com
Supported media What video and audio formats are supported?? - BlackBerryFAQ.com

Ya but OS X actually works. I don't know anyone running Vista.

You have a very small circle of friends.

Look around. Macs sold 7.3% of new PCs in the last quarter. Their best showing ever.

Climb off of the soap box. You've been watching too many marketing commercials for Apple. Best marketing company in the world.

That's kinda like saying Hyundai sells more the Mercedes... they're not exactly competing for the same customer.

What's amazing about Apple is their demographics. They are overwhelmingly dominant in the people that MATTER. From CEO's to politicians, actors, directors, musicians, writers, artists, virtually every creative endeavor. It's not about how MANY people use Macs, it's about WHICH people use Macs that defines Apple.

Oh - and I think they could buy and sell the largest PC company at this point too. ;)

You really drank the Kool Aid, didn't you?

I guess you matter and the 93% that don't use Apple's don't.
Arrogant? I'd say.

Yes, Apple could buy and sell HP now. Uh huh.

Go back and enjoy your niche. Because that's all it is. A niche. 7.3%. Obviously a very self important 7.3% (politicians, actors, consultants, students and artists), but 7.3%. According to Apple.

Sith_Apprentice 02-18-2008 06:49 PM

actually, what a CEO uses as his/her personal computer really doesnt amount to ANYTHING. The fact of the matter is, PCs control whats important, businesses, not only that, its Businesses WORLDWIDE. Mac's have their uses, but its definately not where it matters. You can have all the high priced clients you want, but in the end, sheer volume of customers (nearly 13.5 TIMES as many customers) make up for pricing dont you think?

Absoultely... like most high end product Apple pursues a niche and is not for everyone. I think most of us prefer it that way.

Oh and they might not be able to buy HP, but they passed Dell a while back. ;)

We are very pleased to have generated over $24 billion in revenue and $3.5 billion in net income in fiscal 2007,xxx8221; said Steve Jobs, Applexxx8217;s CEO. xxx8220;Wexxx8217;re looking forward to a strong December quarter as we enter the holiday season with Applexxx8217;s best products ever.xxx8221;

HP Reports Fourth Quarter 2007 Results
-- Fourth quarter net revenue up 15%, or $3.7 billion, from a
year earlier to $28.3 billion

-- Fiscal 2007 net revenue up 14%, or $12.6 billion, to $104.3
billion

-- Fourth quarter GAAP operating profit up 38% to $2.6 billion;
$0.81 earnings per share, up from $0.60 a year earlier

-- Fourth quarter non-GAAP operating profit up 27% to $2.8
billion; $0.86 earnings per share, up from $0.68 a year
earlier

-- HP Board of Directors approves $8 billion in share repurchase
authorization
I would say that HP having more Fourth Quarter 2007 Net Revenue than Apple generated all of Fiscal2007 kinda puts apple a bit lower on the totem pole than HP.
