Media Sync Limit?

Hello,

This is my first post. I have a BlackBerry 8530 purchased less than a year ago from Telus.

I recently purchased a Kingston 32G MicroSD card so that I could use my phone for all my music instead of carrying it and an ipod around. I have been trying to sync about 7G worth of MP3 music to the BlackBerry for the past week. Whether I try Windows Media Player's sync or the BB desktop manager's media sync I keep getting the message on my curve that says "The memory card inserted contains errors. Do you want to repair..." even though it took forever to sync. If I take the SD card out and look at it on my PC, all my music is there. But once I repair so that my BB sees it the same 11-13 artists are there. More specifically it is all the artists that start with 'B' which means that it downlaoding the artists in order of the alphebet but the 'B' artists take up a limit of some sort. So, it is like the SD card formatted for the BB can only hold a certain amount of music even though 32G is more than enough for 7G worth of music. What is interesting is that media card space avaibility under the options screen shows that about 7G has indeed been used but if I view the card on the PC after it was repaired, all the artists in alphabetical order after 'B' are no longer music folders but are just prefixed 'file'.

I have ensured that Mass Storage is set to 'on' and my version is 5.0.0.654 (Platform 4.2.0.298). I have tried reforming the card on the blackberry and on the computer multiple times but the same problem still occurs. Does Media Transfer Protocol Have to be enabled? Does anyone have this problem or have knowledge of why my curve seems to have a music limit?

Thanks,

Arslan

Re: Media Sync Limit?

Unless the media card is really defective then the error message cannot be explained. The only limit is the media card limits. The blackberry does block DRM songs so be sure you are sync'ing from a valid source such as ITunes.

KB14745-"Memory card contains error, please use disk checking utility on computer" appears on the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone
