OS: 9630 4.7.1.110/4.7.1.57 (Multilanguage)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.7.1.110
Multi Language
From Sprint; This will load to any carrier's 9630.

Software For BlackBerry® Tour (TM) 9630 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.7.1.110 (MultiLanguage)

Package Version: 4.7.1.110
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.7.1.57
* Software Platform: 4.1.0.70
* File name: 9630AMEA_PBr4.7.1_rel110_PL4.1.0.70_A4.7.1.57_Spri nt_L.P.exe
* File size: 102.155 MB

Download here:https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...BB765225CE8C0E

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the AppLoader says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

I have upgraded mine to .57. I am on Sprint. I agree with GPS working for Google Maps, finally. I also think the battery life is improved too. I am not sure about signal strength and other improvements. Lets see.

juwaack68 10-14-2009 06:36 AM

Upgraded the other day. Time will tell on the battery. Phone sounds pretty clear (I didn't notice that it may not have been clear) and the Google Maps fix is great.

RadHaz75 10-14-2009 07:53 AM

i'm not seein' it on sprints site.

juwaack68 10-14-2009 07:59 AM

Right now you can only get it via the update page @ BlackBerry.com, and only if you have Sprint. Check this post for the link to get it if you are a Sprint customer:

I *think* US Cellular has also released the same version, and you can download it from their site.

EDIT: US Cellular has .53 on their site, not .57.

JSanders 10-14-2009 08:02 AM

The manual download is on Sprint's site, see the link above.

Stickied, thanks.

juwaack68 10-14-2009 08:04 AM

Ah. Looks like they finally added it.

ffejie 10-14-2009 08:08 AM

It says it works on any carrier - why is it labeled Sprint in the file name?

juwaack68 10-14-2009 08:10 AM

Because that's who released it. It will work with any carrier if you follow the instructions (esp. step #2).

I just successfully loaded 4.7.1.57 using BDM; I'll post my
experiences with the new OS as I see them..

I am currently running v4.7.1.53 (platform 4.1.0.65) and am unable to load this OS. I have installed OS upgrades in the past and am sure I have followed all of the steps. When I click on apploader file, the only software that shows up in the 'application window' are my apps, but no OS. I've tried several times. I hope I am missing the obvious. Is my current OS newer than this update? Am I misreading the version numbers? Thanks for any help.

Desktop Manager saw the installed new version and said "no software updates are required" whenever I clicked "next", but using the "double click on "Loader.exe."" method installed it right away.

hey dude this one for bb Tour aka 9630 not for bold aka 9000

Joe1004 10-18-2009 06:35 PM

I put this on tonight. Taking it back off.

It works find, but the main thing I am looking for is a fix to the bug of no audio on Contact Alerts when holstered. Same problem exists in .53. UGH.

I would give 5.0.0.230 another try, but all the links look to be gone.
