I realized something about the camera

I took a photo of some fish yesterday at the store while I was looking for some saltwater fish, and I realized that the camera takes the picture much before the photo sound is played. So if you look at this:

I hit the button, and the fish moved shortly after that. The sound played, then this picture came up.

I'm pretty sure that the camera takes the picture 1.5-2 seconds in, but it takes a few seconds for it to process/play the sound.

So really, it's not THAT bad, but it appears to be bad because we don't know what happens for about 5 seconds when the picture actually shows up on the screen.

That's a pretty good image result overall. Can you post some other pics you've taken with your Storm?

vooboo13 12-03-2008 02:22 PM

Sure. I haven't taken many, but when I do it's of my son :) I didn't have very good lighting with these ones though:

One I took of my door because I wanted to show the hardware store guy what I was trying to fix:

He's adorable! The camera quality is definitely impressive!

vooboo13 12-03-2008 03:41 PM

Thanks. It's so easy because I have a flickr premium account and I can just upload it, and stick it in a photoset too. crazy.

although I think the camera shoots in CMYK (4-colors maybe in lower light) compared to the older BB cameras which shot in RGB...because my picture color looks a bit more flat than it did on the curve...

but still great quality, and good observation, i noticed while i was taking a pic of a fire I had going last night

and a picture of my new cat about 2-3 days ago

I have found that the storm is excellent in taking close up shots as well. It focuses very well. These photos have not been altered other than bringing the image size down.

vooboo13 12-04-2008 09:13 AM

^^^ Nice photos!

When it has to use its flash, it takes photos even faster. Another observation :)

What settings are you guys using? my camera seems to not be very good. I wonder if it is something with the lens?

EBlanco 12-08-2008 03:14 AM

I took this picture when I got my phone

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3072/...4dafb01bdb.jpg

It's pretty clear, but when I try to take a picture a little farther away, it doesn't look good.

someonexh 12-08-2008 07:11 AM

I have noticed that as well, closer shots are nice.. zoom looks horrible for me :)

pic quality and settings

seems like the shutter speed itself is not particularly fast. slightest movements of the subject (or the phone) result in blurring. this might also be why close up pics are sharper. of course, i am sure lighting has a good bit to do with the speed of the shutter. there is also the image stabilization feature, but that only helps with camera movement, not subject movement. plus, i noticed significantly greater shutter latency with IS turned on.

does anyone know if there is a quicker way to change some of the camera settings (flash on/off, white balance, etc.) in preview mode w/o having to go into bb menu, options, change desired settings, close, save? seems like a bunch of clicks and time to get the settings just right. of course, maybe i oughta just reach for my nikon if i am going to be that picky about getting a good pic.

I took this yesterday just testing the quality.....

TreyS 12-09-2008 01:46 PM

To those having issues....you know that you can hold the button down half-way so the lens focuses then press it all the way to take the photo...right?

Just trying to help.

Bullitt1668 12-09-2008 09:21 PM

I think this would be the perfect thread to ask a question... does the Storm have image editing abilites? how about video editing abilities? I currently have the Dare in which I can do both and I love being able to edit a pic/video on the spot b4 sending to others.

Thanks,

Bullitt
