Replacing Verizon Sim Card w/ New One After Unlocking

Ok, this is my first post so I don't want to start things off badly so the first thing I did was tried searching for the info on here and other sites through search engines but couldn't find a clear answer, so if I missed it sorry in advance.

I recently screwed the update on my IPhone up so I decided to use a Blackberry Bold 9650 I got from a friend awhile back until I got my other phone fixed.

I swiped it and it was on the Verizon network so I unlocked it to use with my T Mobile SIM card and my text and calls worked fine but I have had the problem with only being able to use the browser in areas with wifi. I know there are different things to check with Service Books and the HRT but when I start the HRT it starts but nothing ever comes of it , no downloads or anything.

Ok, so here are my questions:

1. What exactly do I need to do with T Mobile to get the Blackberry Data Plan? Is it a additional charge or just a matter of T Mobile switching me from one plan to another?

2. If I get a new Verizon SIM Card will that allow everything to work like it's supposed to without having to make anymore changes?

Thanks in advance for any help.

1. T-Mobile doesn't have service books for the 9650, so it's never going to work properly.
2. Verizon doesn't use SIM cards for non-LTE devices like the 9650, so that won't help you.

The best advice is to get your iPhone fixed.

When those jailbreaks go wrong it's an ugly ugly thing. One of the great things about BlackBerrys is that they are rarely nuked beyond recovery.

To get a BlackBerry data plan on T-Mobile you have to either call TMO and have them add it to your account, or add it yourself through OLAM by logging into the website. Like dc/dc said, the 9650 was never designed to use GSM in North America. It's really just for overseas roaming. It won't ever work properly here on TMO, if it works at all. You can pick up a cheap BlackBerry that TMO actually supports and have much better luck.

Thanks for the info guys. It's not the end of the world to me, the main reason i even bothered with it to start with was so that i could have the calling/texting with my same iphone number. Ive got a good wifi signal in the house that does fine so i'll survive until i get the iphone straightened out. it's only about $20 to have it fixed but im working on a trade for a newer one and dont want to spend money i dont have to.

don't get me wrong though, i wish everything on the blackberry would work with no issues but it's not the end of the world...

You can use the Verizon 9650 on TMobile. But you will need to MANUALLY load the TMobile Service Books.

Read this. Follow ALL the steps.

HowTo:Get All Features (Browser, MMS) Working on T-Mobile w/Unlocked Storm 95xx - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

It says "Storm" but it will work for the 9650.

Also you will need to change your data plan to a BlackBerry Data Plan.

Note also that you will not get 3G. EDGE only. But it will work.

From what I understand, these instructions no longer work for devices running OS 6.0+, which is why I didn't suggest it.
