Wifi problem
Until yesterday I was successfully accessing wifi internet service on my Blackberry 8520 through the ADSL modem. Suddenly yesterday the websites have stopped opening and there is an error message "The requested server could not be found." I have checked with other devices like Laptop and iPod over the same wifi network and all are working fine and internet access is possible on them. As far as Blackberry is concerned, it connects to the wifi network, but the websites do not open. I have tried to ping from the Blackberry to the wifi gateway, and the pings are successful; still the websites are not opening.
Help please !!!!!!!!!!!! |
Sorry! The error message displayed is:
"Unable to find the requested server." |
Battery pull.
And/Or reboot the router. |
Pulled the battery and rebooted the router. The problem still remains. Wifi internet access through the ADSL modem is still possible on my Laptop, but not on my Blackberry. :-(

Ok, so you cannot get on any websites? not even google.com for example?
Can you go to manage connections - wi-fi options. menu - wi-fi tools - wi-fi diagnositcs and write down what it says. |
Yes I cannot even access google.com
Following is the wifi diagnostics report: Wi-Fi Current Profile: WIRELESS 26 SSID: WIRELESS 26 AP MAC Address: 00:19:5B:98:33:54 Security Type: Pre-Shared Key (PSK) Local IP Address: 192.168.5.247 Signal Level: -52 dBm Connection Data Rate: 54 Mbps Status: Network acquired VPN Current Profile: Concentrator Address: Contact: N/A Authentication: N/A Secure Device IP: Status: VPN profile is not found. BlackBerry Infrastructure Connecting: Error Authenticating router: N/A Authenticating server: N/A Thanks a lot. |
Its got an error connecting to BIS.
hmm. Not sure yet, I'll think on it, and maybe some one else will have the answer before then. |
Dear Midnight Draven
For your further information, I do not have a Blackberry browsing Data Plan. However I have been accessing internet through Wi-fi on the handheld browser until recently. I checked again and found that the wifi gateway IP 192.168.1.1 is pinging from the handheld, but the websites are not opening at all. Thanks, |
is data services on?
|
Worldwide problem:)
I have exactly the same:
Wi-Fi Current Profile: aldaru11 SSID: aldaru11 AP MAC Address: 00:24:01:AD:D8:D5 Security Type: Pre-Shared Key (PSK) Local IP Address: 192.168.0.102 Signal Level: -83 dBm Connection Data Rate: 54 Mbps Status: Network acquired VPN Current Profile: Concentrator Address: Contact: N/A Authentication: N/A Secure Device IP: Status: VPN profile is not found. BlackBerry Infrastructure Connecting: Error Authenticating router: N/A Authenticating server: N/A Sent from my BlackBerry® from Vodafone. Brought to you by BITE |
Wonder if the RIM outage is still going on.
Your not connecting to RIM, maybe call Tech support and they can reprovision your device. |
The OP isnt connecting to RIM because they don't havea blackberry data plan.
No idea about Stirnagun |
Does your router have an internal firewall of some kind, and have you made sure your mobile device is showing as allowed/trusted on your router?
|
to the op only question i have is your blackberry gets a different ip then the gateway router your getting your blackberry on a 192.168.5.x network where as you're try to ping a 192.168.1.x network.
which network or router is actually connected to the internet? |
The IP 192.168.1.1 is the Internet Gateway, whereas my BB device self allocates the IP as 192.168.5.x
Is there a way to manually configure the IP and DNS settings on the Blackberry handheld? Is wifi network dependent on the Blackberry server? When I do not have a data plan what has BIS to do with wifi? I do not have any firewall activated either on my wireless router or on my device. The data service is 'ON'. I have reloaded the Handheld software (v 4.6) on my BB handheld, but the problem still remains. |
how are you getting the 192.168.5 ip when the router is 192.168.1 is the router set to dhcp? or does it use static ip's?
|
The BB device IP is dynamic. Whenever I connect it to the wifi network it configures a different IP itself.
|
Are you sure it is connecting to the right network? Also, wifi is independent of either BIS or BES. I haven't tried it with a BB, but on other phones WIFI is independent of a carrier.
|
this ip is confusing me. since a router will give out same ip net thats its on, being that its 192.168.1.1 your device should be on the 192.168.1 network not 192.168.5.x network.
unless you're dsl modem has a router in it that thats what is on 192.168.1.1 then the router on 192.168.5.1 edit but then again you would never see the 192.168.1.1 network. so i am confused on this atm. |
