There is a possible North American BBM outage today. That may explain the problem. I'm experiencing similar issues today as well.

The ultimate irony from RIM. New version of BBM, but BBM is down *sigh*.

hmmm... conspiracy? :)

juwaack68 12-22-2009 07:20 PM

Well, that's one way to prevent too much traffic from people downloading

BallHawk3 12-22-2009 07:55 PM

wasn't 5.0.0.56 released like a few days ago?

ANd 5.0.0.55 was released like maybe 2 weeks before that.

What's going on?!?

Wirelessly posted (Lets Go Canes!)

Yes. Not a good time to do download the latest version

Raptor464 12-23-2009 09:40 AM

Well this is the version that RIM wants everyone to upgrade to, due to the recent outage caused by versions .55 and .56. So everyone who hasn't upgraded...do it now!

*Newbie question* I'm worried about losing all my contacts like I did when I was updating my OS. Will updating bbm have the same effect? I know I only have 6 but it was a hassle to chase them all down and get them back, haha.

I would do a backup first before upgrading. (y) I hear that Rogers is pushing this version today to all blackberry subscribers.

It probably won't cause you to lose them, but it's always good to do a full device backup first. Then you can restore BBM if necessary.

Where did you hear that? Do you know if they are pushing to corporate/BES subscribers? That's all I need....

I heard it from a contact of mine. They said Rogers customers are being pushed BBM updates to all devices to 5.0.0.57

Noodle22 12-23-2009 11:52 AM

I backed up my device before, and then when I was updating my OS but I made an error somewhere where it deleted all my bbm contacts. I have to finangle with it some more and find out what I did wrong this week sometime.

That would really, really piss me off. I don't want to get paged because RIM pushed something that we haven't rolled out to our end users.

I have held off upgrading BBM for all but a few of our 800 users until things slowed down with bugs and such.

Can you find out if they are only pushing to people who have 5.0.0.55 or .56? All of my users still have the BBM version that came with their OS.

Working on it ;-)

EDIT:

It is being pushed to BIS and BES... :-(

EDIT2:

Confirmed pushed to a few pre 4.7 BBM on BIS

akosnitzky 12-23-2009 12:03 PM

Thank you. Up to .57. I assume we will see .58 soon? :-)
