GPS operating limits ?

Does anyone know, if the GPS operates only within a range of heigt/speed ?

Why:
I tried to record a flight with bbtracker, however, from about 3500m, 600km/h no data was recorded. First, I thought this might be a random reception problem, but I tried it several times, and, it behaved the same.

If you were in a plane, the faraday effect may play in with the fuselage if it were made from metal. Another factor, gps works for altitude by the altitude of the land that the coordinates are tied with in a database in the satellites I believe. If you were in flight therefore it would not display the true altitude. I'm not entirely sure however how you didn't obtain a gps fix though.

I know, the GPS height ist no very accurate.
But, i am just getting no fix, whatever I do. I can even hold the phone against the Window.

I've had similar problems in aircraft with a dedicated GPS puck, or receiver. Even holding it up against the window only gave a very erratic signal. The satellites broadcast at such low power, I assumed then it wasn't enough to pass through the aluminium and other metals in the fuselage. That I was moving so fast was not helping the situation in obtaining a fix.

Thank you - I then give up - its not that important.
