BlackBerry 8820: Do I Need a Media Card for Music?
Hi. I just bought a T-Mobile BlackBerry 8820. Even though I don't have a media card, can I download music onto it via the desktop software that came in the box? Or do I need a media card? If I don't need a card, how do I go about downloading the music? How much space do I have? 64MB? Thank you.

Yes. You need a card. Go to options-about to learn what your OS is on your phone. My guess is that you are using 4.2 or 4.5. Click link to determine size card. http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.p...n_my_device%3F |
Yes, the device has 64 MB of on-board memory which isn't a lot.
You should get a Media Card for music. Be sure that you get one supported by the OS version on the device. What type and size Media Card can I use in my device? - BlackBerryFAQ BlackBerry Device Software -- Media Card Size Limit BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 -- Up to 2 GB BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 -- Up to 4 GB BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 -- Up to 4 GB BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 -- Up to 8 GB BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0 -- Up to 8 GB BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0.81 and above -- Up to 16 GB |
Thanks for getting back, everybody! So technically I can put mp3s on my phone w/o a media card? Can it damage the phone though? And if I wanted to put, like, 50 something MBs worth of mp3s, I can? Or does the phone require a certain amount of that 64MBs? I plan to buy a media card next week but I want to have music on my phone cuz I'm going on a trip. Thank you!

64MB is all of the phones memory, which includes the OS, the storing of data, the storing and usage of applications.
You have say after a regular installation of OS and no data maybe 32MB left, and you haven't even setup email, got any messages, inputted your contacts etc etc Theres no way you'd fit 50 MB's of MP3's onto that, and actually have your phone run for very long. Get a media card now |
I got the SD media card (4gb) but when I connect it to the PC, Roxio says "There is no device connected"...and when I try to use mass storage, my removable drive says "Inset a disk into removable disk..." or something like that. How do I fix this problem? Mass storage is turned on, etc. Seems like a lot of ppl have this trouble and there is no solution. HELP!!!

just be careful not to put too much data in your phone or media card because the phone tends to lag or hang, wherein you might face a couple of minutes just looking at the hour glass icon
