OS: 8900 v4.6.1.138 / 4.6.1.76 (Multilanguage)

Software Update for Blackberry 8900

This is for the 8900 model, and will load on any carrier's 8900.

BlackBerry Handheld Javelin 8900 Software ((Multilanguage))

Package Version: 4.6.1.138
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.6.1.76
Software Platform: 4.2.0.62
File name: 8900M_PBr4.6.1_rel138_PL4.2.0.62_A4.6.1.76.ex e
File size: 116 MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download here:
Go to Blackberry, click on "Free Download Area"->"Endgeräte"->"RIM Devices"->"8900". In this folder you will then find the download link for the firmware package 8900M_PBr4.6.1_rel138_PL4.2.0.62_A4.6.1.76.exe.

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 8900:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Just a bit of a typo I noticed, it says "BlackBerry Handheld Storm 8900 Software ((Multilanguage))" I know you obviously meant Curve 8900 ;)

Make sure you add to the instructions that you must choose Germany first.

FYI: There are newer builds than 4.6.1.76. However, all of these builds have heavy bugs. DO NOT upgrade to anything newer than .76. Anything from .76 to .101 has heavy bugs and in some cases will brick your device. Regardless, theres are bugs and it's not worth loading.

Just to add...

The Rogers 8900 Curve comes with Build .91. From what I have seen it's very stable. Unfortunately, Rogers has only soft-launched this phone, and there is no download link yet to Rogers' .91 OS.
