Switch problem (under trackball)
 

The BB 9000 I have has developed a problem with the click switch located under the trackball.
Essentially this is no more than a dome shaped piece of metal which goes slightly flat when compressed thus making contact on the pcb.
The problem is that this now inverts when pressed and does not go back to its original dome shape so carrying out switch functions is not possible.
Replacing the trackball pcb is not an option, even though I have had numerous years of experience in electronics, my soldering does not extend to the equivalent of micro-surgery.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what was the solution?
