Why can't PocketDay occupy the homescreen?

I thought it was perhaps impossible but since the new Launcher does it, it obviously can be done. (Note that Launcher has scrolling down in some of their information tabs so the scrolling aspect of PocketDay shouldn't be an issue for a homescreen.)

Think of it: install a "PocketDay Homescreen" app over Zen (just as you can with Launcher). Have the drop down menu for applications that don't have shortcuts. It's the Holy Grail.

Anything like BB Today and Launcher use timed events to check to see if the normal BB home screen was activated and then bring themselves to the top. This causes the BB to work hard (thus potentially reducing battery life) because it's constantly checking the system to see if it needs to be activated.

With PocketDay we're very diligent in trying to not interfere with battery life and we are not particularly attracted to "work arounds".

Just so you know, we are working on getting backgrounds into pocketday and have been in discussions with RIM about tapping into the home page api directly.

We want to make PocketDay everyones default home screen and will get there when the time is right. Hopefully that's soon.

Thanks for the answer; that explains how they do it. Look forward to seeing your solution whenever it appears. Tapping directly into the homescreen api sounds promising.
