Desktop Manager Backup Failure
I did a search but nothing turned up but I don't think I am the only person to have this issue. I am trying to backup my phone data and it fails. I went into advanced and backed up everything except the 'Messages' section and everything went through fine but I got a warning saying
'Databases that are unavailable in the list have been configured for wireless synchronization or wireless backup and are read-only. You can not restore or clear them.' When I attempt to backup just the messages portion it also fails. Can too many messages cos this error? there are 1267 in total. IF it helps I am using DTM 4.6 on Vista SP1. I also tried downgrading to version 4.5 of DTM and it still failed ... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help, Chris |
Chris, too many messages, at least 1267, is not the problem. I have over 3,000 residing on my device at any one time.
Are you on a corporate BES? You might try not backing up the address book, see how it works... if still not, try leaving the calendar out, and determine which module is failing. |

Try searching for "backup". You'll find other threads here, including in the beta forum. If you do advanced backup, choose everything except profiles & (If I recall) browser cache. Backup will succeed without these 2. |
Watch the progress during the backup and see where it hangs and ultimately fails. Mine fails on Profiles, and I have seen other posts. I tried a complete wipe and re-install, but that did not fix the problem. I would love to know if anyone has figured out a cure for this issue. The work around I use is the one suggested above: Use the Advanced feature, select all databases except the one causing the failure (probably profiles). Then, in the left hand pane after the databases transfer over, Save it.

I have isolated it to my Messages however the same error happened on another PC with another Blackberry (my girlfriends) as well ... I am not willing to loose my messages as they are obviously the bulk of the information on my device. I bought a new device and i need to migrate from the old curve to the new BOLD. Everything was easily resolved by going back to 4.3 version of DTM.

I think you have two of the same posts going here. http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...p-failure.html

so we'll close this one and keep just one going.
Please don't double post your questions... thanks. |
