I finally gave up on the Storm
After almost 5 months, I give up.
One of our other lines came due for a NE2 upgrade, and I jumped on it to go to a Curve...I just can't take the problems with the Storm anymore and the promises of the software upgrade. I'm sure that within a day of receiving the Curve, the Storm upgrade will become available, but I just don't care at this point. |
Sorry to see you go, you must not have had .113 or above. Most of the problems caused by .75 were fixed in later OS's. Ta ta.
|
I never wait for an official carrier release. They take too long.
|
Have to agree... Waiting is painfully slow... Better just to grab a leaked copy of something... I think I'm .132 and I like it just fine...
|
I'm in the process of switching back to my Bold from the Storm :-(
I really liked the Storm, but the lack of a solid OS to hold EDGE is killing me. I'll revive the Storm again in a few weeks/months when a newer OS that will work with EDGE comes out. |
Are you sure your doing things right, Mark? There are plenty here that have upgraded their OS's are their Storm's are holding Edge fine. I hope you at least tried to solve the problem before switching quickly.
|
You should've titled this "I finally gave up on Verizon"
.132 is great btw. |
I almost gave up on mine after a week or so. Now with spending time on CB and updating to .132, I'm glad I stuck with it.

Funny thing, today I was thinking to give up on the Storm also. After 4-months of sluggish response and occasional freeze, it's not acceptable anymore. I'm thinking to move to the Curve 8900 instead.
My OS is still .75 version. What is this .132 version everyone is talking about? Is it officially release? Where can I upgrade my OS? I used my device to look for updates, but none was found. |
its a 9530 version released by BB, but the carriers have to put their stamp of approval on it, which they have yet to do.
Its not supported by any carrier, so you proceed with the update at your own risk, but with Verizon dragging their feet, but by my reckoning, you have two choices: 1. Suffer using a buggy phone that is supported by Verizon (who will probably tell you that the bugs will be fixed soon in an update that has taken months to arrive) 2. Or just Update yourself to a version that has fixed many of the bugs, in which case you don't need their tech support who couldn't help you anyways. |
Thanks, I found a .132 download file. I will try to upgrade tonight. If it's still sluggish, I'm trading my Storm for a new Curve 8900. Last chance...

I'm running .132 v4 hybrid, it's sick. Makes the device fly, wish you the best of luck with your curve though

Where do you find the upgrades? My phone is the .75 version and I just purchased it yesterday.
|
Go to the "Beta You Than Me" forum. It lives in the 'Blackberry General Forum Section'. or, look a the sticky at the top of this forum... "latest OS..."

Wirelessly posted (9000)
Oh I've tried just about everything. Ran several hybrids with various radio files including .90. After several days of no/spotty data coverage I had to give up. I'm a business owner with a fleet of BlackBerry users, and we use bbm for most communications. I'm curious about .141/.142 already :-) |
So I downloaded .132 and tried running it, but it says "Error reading setup initialization file". What does this mean? and what do I need to do?
|
How big was the download (mb size). It could be that the download was corrupted. Try a different download source
