Announcing Berry-a-Code: Free BB App
1 Attachment(s)
Purpose: Berry-a-Code solves a pretty simple problem. In real-time it tells you the originating city and state for phone numbers which do not exist in your address book.

very nice - would like to have this for Germany
|
it only does USA? not anywhere else around the world?
|
Will try, thx
|
Thanks, I will try.
|
so ppl is it only for USA???
|
Area Code Support: Berry-a-Code currently supports over 275 US, 24 Canadian and 20 Caribbean area codes.
I am working to support international country codes but it is a bit more complex. |
Just a quick note to say thanks. I DL'd it last night.
It may take months to find out if it works or not, since I don't get many out of town calls and sometimes have unknown/blocked callers blocked -- but it seems to have installed smoothly and is running nicely in the background. :) |

Thank you for the note. Yes, this is a difficult application to test.
One note: multiple cities can overlay a single area code and multiple area codes can overlay a city. So, I typically selected the most populous city to display. Please let me know if you have suggestions on better cities for a selected area code. Quote:

I just installed it, I live in Canada on the North shore of Montreal and when I called myself from my house, it gave me a South shore area. It worked great when I received a call from Toronto.
Very nice app.(y) |
For the 24 Canadian cities, did you just use the area code or area code with the exchange as well?

Edit/Update: yes, that worked perfectly. I changed my work number in my contact list so that the call wouldn't match myself, and it came up announcing (in my case) Province, Country. Well done. I wonder if this app and Black & White List will get along... Edit/Update: above, I'd said I called from my work phone, which is an IP phone which usually doesn't come up on CallerID. Now, I am subscribed to CallerID; so if a caller is not in my addressbook, what will Berry-A-Code display? Will it kick in for callers not in my addressbook but would have normally displayed the name? I suppose I can find out when I get home... |
Can't wait for version which shows international cities & countries!
|
Thanks bberic! :)
|
sorry but this is far from accurate - a call that came in was 4 towns over wrong!
thanks anyway |
i'll give it a try, does it work for all model BBs?

What does this website return when you enter the areacode *and* exchange? http://www.jcsm.com/oneacx.asp It works for me -- my area is '415' and covers: San Francisco, Novato, San Rafael, Mill Valley, San Anselmo, Larkspur, Corte Madera, Tiburon, Sausalito and Fairfax. If I enter a known SF exchange (297) it returns correctly, and if I enter a known Mill Valley exchange (381) it also returns correctly. I think the author (bberic) needs to implement exchange code support as well. |
How can i install this? I typed the URL you posted but my BB Browser didnt load it, there was an error. Help !
|
preety cool thanks!
