Desktop software installation problem

Hi. I've just had to buy a new pc (the old one died). I downloaded the 4.3 version of the desktop software from the RIM site, and when I clicked on it to install it it says 'Desktop Software v4.3 (Multilanguage).exe is not a valid Win32 application'. The pc is running Vista home premium.

I'm not very technologically savvy; does anyone what this means and how I can go about installing the desktop software?

Thanks.

On the RIM download page it clearly says that it is Vista compatible!
