any significant reason to update to SP1? Any new features or just bunch of fixes in this release?
Thanks! |
From what I saw on the Exchange front, just a bunch of fixes. Not sure about the other two though.
|
on Domino also a lot of fixes as well as:
- ability to increase email message prepopulation limits (750 messages or 14 days) - Setting the timeout value (SDR 81421) - more descriptive logging - customized service name for IBM Lotus Domino |
Some comentary from those who have installed SP1 would be cool.

No problems yet 4.1 sp1 for Notes..
Have only migrated 14 users of 820 so far though.... |
I was reading to the release notes and noticed two known issues that might make me wait for SP1 Hotfix #1. Has anyone encountered these problems, have they caused any problems? Or am I reading too closely?
(08/09/06) Talked to RIM this about another matter. Ask about these problem to be address in a HotFix Quote:

Our organization will be deploying SP1 onto our Dev box within the next 2 weeks. From what our primary BB Tech Admin found, it is primarely bug fixes with very few enhancements (at least for Exchange). I'd be interested in finding out when others upgrade to it and to hear what your experience is. There has been talk in other areas here that SP1 will fix activation problems encountered with the 4.1 upgrade. Any thoughts on this?

There are no new IT policy updates, which is a bummer. Considering the 8100 is right around the corner, it'd be a shame not to have the ability to disable the camera and SD memory (not that we want to, but I'm sure SOMEONE does) via IT policy. Seems like either the 8100's release is a bit premature or SP2's introduction is a bit behind schedule... either way, this policy option should have been included in SP1 if it was going to be released so late.
|
I heard from my rim sales rep, that the camera IT Policy will be out as soon as the 8100 is official released(either HF or SP2). He couldn't give me schedule :-(

It is called the Enterprise Security policy, and it is one of the new features in 4.1. |

Hotfix#1 now available for Domino 4.1 SP1
The only issue corrected in this seems to be this issue.
SDR 97967 When you delete a user from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the incorrect user profile document is deleted. SDR 97967 In the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1 SP1 for IBM Lotus Domino, if you deleted a BlackBerry Enterprise Server user who was no longer running on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the correct user ID was deleted; however, the incorrect user profile document was deleted. In the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1 SP1 HF1 and later for IBM Lotus Domino, if you delete a user who is no longer running, the correct user profile document is deleted. I am almost ready to implement SP1 now. |
I've been running it since the first day it came out with no problems. I have very few users, though, and don't regularly (or at all) do any of those things that may be of concern that are mentioned above.

Started getting this problem after upgrading to SP1 for Domino.
When replying to GMail message on BlackBerry handheld the email arrives at GMail with no body. When looking at the sent message in Lotus Notes the message have no Body field. When responding to GMail using Lotus Notes client is fine. |
I guess in SP1 updater is a little messed up. Got a email from support this morning to download and run the 4.1.1 full installer then apply hotfix 1.
