A BlackBerry data plan will fix it.

Is it is a BlackBerry Data Plan that you have the 250MB on? If not, call your carrier and ask about the bolt on service or add on.

Are you able to browse without the wifi and just using your provider own website. I have T-Mobile on mine. But for WiFi use, you need to set up your WiFi setting manual when searching for your home router and likewise for open hotspots. That way you type in the SSID and Password. Otherwise it will Scan and ask for a pin number to be entered on router. Hotspot browsing will search for open wifi but you still need password from the hotspot provider to access. Hopefully a grownup will correct me here.

IN order to use the WiFi on a legacy (8520) BlackBerry you must have a BlackBerry Data Plan. From a grownup.

The BlackBerry data plan is the only way to get the service books on your device that allow WiFi use. It's a constant and inviolate fact of life with older BlackBerrys.
