OS: 9800 6.0.0.2949/6.0.0.668 (Multilanguage)

Software For BlackBerry® Torch 9800 smartphone
This will install to any carrier's 9800 model by following the instructions below.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.2949 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 6.0.0.2949
Consisting of:
Applications: 6.0.0.668
Software Platform: 6.6.0.236
File name: 9800M_PBr6.0.0_rel2949_PL6.6.0.236_A6.0.0.668_Voda fone_DE.exe
File size: 168.98MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...537E2EA5C68EA6

Instructions for installing on the 9800:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Re: Latest OS: 9800 6.0.0.2949/6.0.0.668 (Multilanguage)

When trying to install this OS over the 6.0.0.666 one it indicates it is older.

The Software Platform for this new one is .236 where the one for the 666 OS is 241.

Anyone have this issue? I don't want to install something that is older.

Installed... After a hiccup with the device freezing during restore, a manual restore completed and all installed. Will post any issues if any come up.

Hopefully, this fixes an apparent issue with the GPS in which it takes longer to identify it's location.

After install, I can no longer use facebook via the app. I can log in via weblogin only. I keep getting an error (2406). Seems to be a widespread issue on the web. Any thoughts?

When I try to run the OS file, it says "Error reading setup initialization file."

What should I do?

Re-download the file. I got the same thing, download indicated complete after only 21 mb of 168 or so, so file is incomplete. Redownloading now, will see if prob persists.
