Nav4all version 8.0.1

I don't see any mention of it on their web site, but version 8.0.1 of nav4all is now available. The biggest difference that I have noticed so far between this and the previous version is that there are a lot of new options in the settings menu. I haven't tried to use it for navigation yet.

alslsb 09-30-2007 07:12 AM

Where can I download it?

MrKyoo 09-30-2007 09:09 AM

http://www.nav4all.com/install

alslsb 09-30-2007 11:09 AM

Hmm. I downloaded it and when I type in an address, I can't get the number keys to work on my Pearl. It worked in Version 7

buggle_96 10-01-2007 10:19 AM

0 key wont work with this version...

aares 10-02-2007 06:21 AM

I have a strange issue with my device. I own a 8310.
I've installed nav4all, version 8.0.1 and during the installation and even efter, when I try to configure the GPS I get this error: No bluetooth GPS sensor found.

Can you help me ?

RickyG 10-02-2007 06:38 PM

Hello aares...i just DL it today also and have the same issue. I go to the GPS option and do a search again. It dosnt find it or says it doesnt, but it works?!?

I also shut of the BT on my 8100 and turned it back on and that worked also.

I changed my blackberry and after that everything worked fine. It seems that it was an issue with my blackberry device.

pbaird 10-03-2007 03:40 PM

I'm trying it with an 8700g and iBlue puck. I get the message that it can't acccess bluetooth also, but if I tell it to use internal gps, it works just fine...

I have logged a support ticket with NAV4ALL regarding this isse. I'll report back when they get back to me!

RickyG 10-04-2007 03:41 AM

I had the same problem. It is mentioned in thier KB, but it was generic.
I now have a process
pearl running<> BT off
Turn on 1200 and wait 45 seconds to catch sat
the 1200 will request BT
Select yes
No prblems since I do it this way.

pbaird 10-04-2007 09:11 AM

I've used it for a couple days now... I'm pretty impressed. It is much better than their earlier version. There are lots of good features and options, including address book integration. The navigation seems very accurate from the limited times I've used it. I did make it a point to use it to find places I hadn't been before. It isn't as "pretty" as the commercial products, but for free it is very good. The only things I would like to see added, is that the navigation screen doesn't show the name of the street that you should turn on to, and the voice doesn't say it either. If you had a couple intersections very close to each other, it could be cconfusing. Other than that though, I really like it. Just might be good enough to cancel my telenav service.

RickyG 10-04-2007 06:36 PM

I like it because of the voice prompt. Dont have to look at the BB all the time. We all know how dangerious that can be ;)

buggle_96 10-06-2007 09:54 AM

8.0.3 is out!

buggle_96 10-06-2007 10:06 AM

Oh and the 0 key now works :)

fr0zen 10-07-2007 08:42 AM

does this work for Canada?

aerobb 10-17-2007 01:34 PM

can the program access the internal gps on my 8800? if not i might be willing to purchase a puck and that slim houx looks real nice. Would love something to put on my key chain.

richard371 10-20-2007 04:36 PM

I can't get it to work with internal gps 8310.

Aquabob 10-20-2007 05:49 PM

Richard:

I'm pretty much a complete newbie with the BB, and found that it worked just fine on mine. I'm running a brand new 8310, ATT service, and it found the gps just fine.

I have no idea how to operate the software (it ain't Google Maps...LOL), but I can tell that it's pretty cool. I read in the EULA, and it said that its free until 2008. Does that mean that it's going to be 'pay to play' after 01/08, or does the EULA just re-up after that it's still free for the general public?

dicin 10-21-2007 10:49 AM

So Far Nav4all (8.05 is out) is free and works very well. Yes it works in Canada. I have alos used it in Mexico City a few days ago. You do need a little time to figure however once you learn the basics you are ready to go. The great thing is it has all of the world maps. Lots of features!

I also use Wayfinder which is exactly like telenav however it does have a one time fee! Wayfinder, Telnav and Nav4all are very similar except the free one has tons of features.

Both work great on a BB 8310 using Fido with BB Connect!

If you have problems uninstall it make sure there is no folder in the devise or microsd card. Than reinstall and accept everything when it want to install and you should be OK.

Cheers,

richard371 10-21-2007 11:32 AM

I installed 8.0.5 and it says no bluetooth gps sensor found. All my other gps apps work fine. 8310 att

dicin 10-21-2007 05:02 PM

did you go to the settings and point to internal GPS?

richard371 10-22-2007 09:59 AM

the settings dont give me a choice.

aerobb 10-22-2007 02:57 PM

Same here... i have allowed everything in the permissions and it doesnt give an option to use the internal GPS, only looks for a bluetooth puck.

CanuckBB 10-22-2007 03:05 PM

I had my 8310 set to internal, it still complained about the lack of a bluetooth device.

aerobb 10-22-2007 03:11 PM

Where is that setting? When i go to set up the GPS it only looks for the bluetooth i cant find where it asks for the internal gps.

richard371 10-22-2007 03:39 PM

This is the same problem I am having. Google, BBMAPS, etc all work fine.

dlpisgreat 10-24-2007 12:04 PM

I have to use a BT puck and during configuration, it stated it found an internal GPS. App works fine.

I have a Pearl. :?

I had the exact same problem when I installed 8.0.1on my 8820, but I installed 8.0.5 yesterday on an 8820, 8310 and an 8800 and it worked just fine. All 3 are AT&T units.

The website now says free until 1/1/2010 so thats over 26 months before you will need to worry about a fee.

CanuckBB 10-27-2007 09:34 AM

Am I missing a setting, or does it just not display scrolling maps when driving?
Or the name of the street you are to turn to?

scsuperman 10-29-2007 05:36 PM

gps

I recently downloaded the gps sensor to my 8700 and the GPS sensor cannot be located. I have read the reviews and still cannot locate the internal gps. Can anyone help?

hadji 10-30-2007 04:21 AM

New version is out : 8.0.52
don't know the differences, I'll test it later.

It seems to work much better on my 8700, much easier to select things and navigate.

While they show support for the 8820, I've tried it several times. I have set it to use the internal GPS, but it can never find any satellites. I've tried it inside and out. I can exit the program and do a Refresh GPS from Options and see anywhere from 5 to 9 satellites. But Nav4all never sees any on this phone. Every other GPS program I have tried works fine. I think I'll stick with InfoSearch FindIt for now.

It also finally allows the internal GPS on 88XX devices to work!

(or at least it does on my t-mo 8800) ;)

Signal_Corp 11-09-2007 09:22 AM

Has anyone been able to get this to work on a Sprint CDMA Blackberry? The install went fine, however it says it can't find the bluetooth gps. Is there anyway to get it to use the internal gps?

Thanks.

hadji 11-19-2007 06:04 AM

New version is out : 8.0.6

dbltap 11-20-2007 09:20 AM

Ver 8.0.6 has solved the "Searching for GPS" problem on the 8820. Now to see how well this program actually works.....

psyct1 11-20-2007 03:14 PM

downloading now... this will make 3 Nav programs on my curve (excluding google maps)... i'm curious to see how they all hold up to each other

I am curious to know the answer as well. !Got it to work! :)

**I did a little more digging and under Set up GPS I checked LAPI advanced and it found my location with no issue.
Note: Install all languages prior to making this setting change. I bypassed the voice set up upon initial installation because it took too long. I tried it after checking off LAPI advanced and it wouldn't install. Also, I downloaded the .alx and .cod files specific for BB from: KB110053: How do I install on my Blackberry using .cod and .alx files? - Free GPS navigation for your mobile phone!

newest release of nav4all on 7130e

After loading version 8.0.5 and also with version 8.0.6, if I have Nav4all running and a destination input and information displayed, if I get a message or phone call and have to switch to the message, the screen freezes with whatever was the last information (distance, direction, etc.). The voice commands continue correctly, but the screen will not display turns or other changes. Also recalculations will not been done if a turn is missed. The keyboard also freezes, except for the BlackBerry function that allows switching applications so I can't even close the app. I have to pull the battery to close it.
This didn't happen before version 8.5. I don't see a way to go back to older versions

Danabw 11-28-2007 07:44 PM

Should this work on a Verizon 8130 w/external BT GPS? The 8100, 8110, and 8120 are listed as supported, but not the 8130.

Someone tried it on a Verizon 8130 and did not get voice to work...hoping that Nav4all and my 8130 and BT GPS will be a winning combination...

What do you think?

Version 8.0.63 Bluetooth Com. Error

Just downloaded and installed V8.0.63. Using a Holux M-1200 I establish a BT connection as evidenced by GPS Info in Nav4All which shows receiving from 9 satellites. However, shortly after starting navigation I receive a message that the Nav4All application requires Bluetooth to be enabled. Enable Bluetooth? I select Yes and the application crashes. Anyone having a similar problem who has come up with a solution?

permissions

I don't know about this, but I am very skeptable about the security.
It wants access to all user permissions. I have denied them and it looks like it starts ok, but can't find the GPS. I had to allow all to have it download the voice files. Anyone done any research on the security?
