Valley People TA-101 Transistor Array, new/[NOS]- A RARE FIND for Audiophiles-:
$27.50
This is the hard-to-find Valley People TA-101. No longer manufactured, but sought after, due to its closely-matched PNP/NPN pairs. The TA-101 contains four (4) NPN and four (4) PNP transistors. Due to its manufacturing, it provides EXTREMELY close thermal matching between the NPN/PNP pairs. This makes it ideal for circuits that require this matching.'Thermal Runaway' is avoided by the proper use of devices such as these. This unit is primarily intended for Audio applications involving Voltage Controlled Amplifiers. (VCAs).It is the unit found in the vintage Valley People 'KEPEX II' and the 'GAIN BRAIN II'. It is the successor to their original EGC-101 VCA found in earlier circuits.
This circuitry evolved from Paul Buff's Lo-Noise microphone preamp design known as the 'Trans Amp'; which changed the nature of Low-Noise Mic Preamp design; as it approached the theoretical noise floor.Paul Buff was the founder of Allison Research, who manufactured the original Kepex & Gain Brain. Allison became Valley People, then Valley International etc. He used these building blocks in circuitry for Compressors, Expanders, and Audio console fader automation. An application book is available, upon request with purchase, which provides specs and sample schematics for VCAs.
The unit it infinitely configurable and very RARE.
We hope to have found more; which may be coming soon.
