DescriptionVintage 130 Page LATROBE STEEL COMPANY imitation leather flexible cover book with metal spiral binding is titled "LATROBE TOOL STEEL Product Manual" and measures approximately 5" x 9". Latrobe Steel was the "SOLE PRODUCERS OF DESEGATIZED® TOOL AND DIE STEELS". The title, company name, &tc. appear on the front cover and spine in gold lettering. The manual is undated, but was likely released in the late 1940's or early 1950's following the grant of a trademark for the desegatized brand.
The following nine sections appear in the manual:High Speed Steels; High Production Die Steels; Extrusion, Die Casting and Hot Work Die Steels; Medium Run Blanking Die and Punch Steels; Die and Punch High Strength Steels; Cold Heading Die Steel; Water Hardening Tool Steels; Flat Ground Die Stock and Tool Bits; and, Reference Tables.
Numerous Tables, Charts, Graphs, Photos, Illustrations, Reference Tables, &tc. are included throughout to accompany the text. Listings of company offices-plants-warehouses-agents appear at the front, along with two Notes pages at the back, both of which remain unused.
The Vintage Latrobe Tool Steel Product Manual remains in Excellent Condition, and appears to have been little used, if at all. Noted for accuracy only is a rubber stamp impression on the first page from the Library of the Warner & Swasey Co., Cleveland, Ohio. The book pages are in Excellent Condition.
