GENERAL
This is a great general purpose valve for water and other low viscosity fluid applications. These valves are suitable for potable (drinking) water, but do not have any 3rd party certifications such as NSF 61. All the "wet" components are made out of FDA listed materials.
Like most diaphragm-type valves, this valve requires minimum pressure (3 psi) to operate. It is intended to be used in pressurized systems, not in gravity feed systems. The pressure may come from city water pressure, pump etc.
This valve has a 11/32" (8.5 mm) orifice so any restriction in your system should be relatively minimal.
The inlet and outlet ports are for 1/2" ID (inside diameter) hose. You can secure the hose with standard hose clamps available at hardware stores, auto parts stores etc.
NORMALLY OPEN DESIGN
This is a normally open valve. Normally open valves are "OPEN" in their de-energized state (i.e. when no electrical power is applied, the valve is open). Once the coil is energized, the valve closes.VALVE COIL / ELECTRICAL
The valve coil is nylon encapsulated and is water resistant (but may not be submerged).
The coil is rated for continuous duty, which means that the coil temperature will stabilize at a safe level and will not continue to rise indefinitely. As with most continuous duty rated valves, the coil may still get warm or even hot during long activation periods. This is completely normal for most solenoid valves. If your application requires extremely long activation periods, please contact us for additional advise.
