i recently bought the t-mobile blackberry curve and i've never used any of the messengers on it except for blackberry messenger. i've used e-mail too. there's been a 1 with a smiley by it for a week up in the corner and i don't know how to get rid of it. i don't have anything new. i've checked everything so many times, and i definitely don't have any new messages. does anyone know how to get rid of it? it's annoying when i'll get 1 new message and it will say i have 2.

Smiley at the top is likely a BBMessenger new message icon. Look at the bottom of the BBMessenger list, also, to make sure you don't have a new invite you missed.
