Try going to the webpage. It's not very user friendly, but there is a link there to register your handheld and it shouldn't be a problem after that. Sometimes you just have to try and do what it tells you!
Edit: Just go
here and there is a link at the bottom to register your mobile for yahoo messenger. The next page will ask you to login if you have a yahoo id already or create one if you done. Just go from there.
