Default Transfer Password Keeper Data to New Unit

Please Login to Remove!

I'm hoping to have a new 8700C in the next few days.... weeks.... months... .

Anyhow, how can I transfer the "Password Keeper" data from my 7290 to my new 8700c.

Thanks!

=)
You should just be able to go in and do an advanced restore from a backup that you make of the handheld.

Thanks!

I searched, but didn't see that one.
I will give it a try when I get my new 8700c.

You won't be able to "Advanced Restore" the Password Keeper database if your new BB is set up to wirelessly sync with your BES. The database will be greyed-out. The trick is to go to the Enterprise Activation menu and turn wireless sync off. Press ALT + C + N + F + G and then turn it off. Then the database will be ready to move to the new handheld.

And that leads to a question I have on the issue. If the Password Keeper database is set up to sync with the BES, why is it now backed up and then wirelessly synced back to the new machine? At least on our BES, there's no sign of the database anywhere.

jcalchi :

WOW, That Worked! I was able to restore my old Password Keeper database!!

Just to recap the instructions, on the 8700 I did this:

Go to Options/ Advanced Options/Enterprise Activation
Go to the "E-Mail" field
Type ALT + C + N + F + G (Keep holding the ALT down)
Turn the Wireless Sync Off
Restore the password database.
Turn the Wireless Sync back on.

Note: The keys have changed slightly on the new 8700. If, for example, you used the "0/Shift Key" on your 7290 as part of your OLD password, make sure that, when prompted, you enter the "Shift Key", not the "0" as part of your new password.

Thanks Again!

This tip was worth the price of admission!!

Not one to let an old thread die, I have a couple of questions about password sync. I'm not using password keeper at all (I use the excellent windows free software "keepass" instead), nor will I unless I can find good answers to the following:

1) How much faith can I have that my BES administrator cannot access the password data that I allow to wirelessly sync?

2) Is there any way for me to manipulate password data on my desktop and have that data sync wirelessly to my handheld, the way I do with notes, addresses and the calendar?

TIA
