Default When installed Desktop Manager it deleted all my Contacts & Calendar

Please Login to Remove!

I wanted to download my pictures to my computer from my Blackberry 8300.
I didn't have my disk handy for the Desktop software; so I went to the Blackberry site to download the program from there. Here is where I think things got messed up, forgive me if I explain this wrong but I did this about 2 weeks ago and I have tired to figure out where everything went, and my memory of the exact steps I did are a little fuzzy; I call it getting older. Anyway, after installing it, it wanted me to install or set up Enterprise something. As I was doing that something happened, well anyway when I looked on my phone all my contacts in my address book, pictures and my schedule/calendar were gone; empty.

The strange part is a picture I had taken earlier that day was still on the phone, and all the ring tones I had downloaded where still there. All the important stuff was gone. I check the SD card and it didn't have anything on it. I looked on the computer but I didn't see anything, but I am not sure where it could have gone to anyway. But I did get 3 mails from "network@etp1107.etp.na.blackberry.net" with some EPT.data files attached, which I have no idea what type of file that is.

Can anyone help me??? I had over 120 contacts on my phone. Am I just S.O.L.??

I don't really have a clue how you might have deleted, or caused to be deleted, data from your blackberry. However, if you are not on BES, you shouldn't have selected the enterprise option when installing desktop manager.

Run the desktop manager installer again. If the option to change settings allows you to change from enterprise to personal email, try that. Otherwise select uninstall, then do a cold reboot and reinstall desktop manager and select the personal email option.

Regarding your data, do you have a backup?

No I didn't have a back-up that was one of the things I was planning on doing. That is until this happened.

I didn't think I chose the BES, but I must have.

I will give this a try. But what is a "cold reboot"?

Insteasd of restarting windows, turn the computer off, wait a few moments, then turn on again. It maybe doesn't matter, but it might, so it's an extra measure to avoid problems.

Doing some reading , the first thing Rim asks is there a backup? So other than a lesson learned about backup, the only other possibility I can think of is maybe their on the SIM card. Also some indications about a warning message due to apps installed on the PC. that are in conflict. Any error messages on the original install?
