I have a Bold with AT&T as well as various other devices. The data on AT&T is horrible (in my area at least). I do not blame AT&T for this. I do lay the blame at Apple's door for designing a piece of crap that is as inefficient as the battery they put in their shoddy device.

I am considering establishing service with Verizon Wireless and getting the Storm2. I know the network here is great, but I am wondering what users think of the device itself.

I myself have never had an issue with any Blackberry I have ever owned (and I have owned plenty) but want to make sure that moving to the Storm2 would be a good move. I know there will always be users who find problems with a device (like some post I read about the buttons on the phone not working properly, etc.) but I am just looking to see if you think it is a good solid device

Can't they make one with a "normal" touchscreen and one with sure press and see which one people prefer? Do you honestly think that sure press tested better in market research or do you think it is just arrogance on the part of RIM not wanting to let go of this technology? I really want to like this phone but it seems that no one ever loves typing on this phone and that they have just "gotten used to it."

You're definitely right, RIM is holding onto it but there is some merit to it. As a third-party developer, it is very useful to have separate Click vs. Tap it's just that the Storm 1 version of SurePress was really clunky and annoying. It's actually quite intuitive on the Storm 2 so I'm waiting to see what the rest of the world thinks.

I really like the Storm2 after having the Storm1 and hating the big ass button thing. The newer model is a huge improvement to the point that I ditched my Bold on ATT, unlocked a Storm2 and use it as my main device even though I only get EDGE service and no 3G. The typing experience is much better on the newer device and you can type quite quickly once you get used to it. RIM also made huge improvements in the stability and responsiveness of the OS - it is today what it should have been a year ago. User experience will vary due to personal taste though - so you should go to Verizon and try it out yourself. You can always sign up for a new line, test it out, then decide for your own. Take advantage of their 30 day policy, initially sign up with a new random number, then port over if you decide to keep.
