Default WiFi vs EDGE fighting? BB 8320

Please Login to Remove!

I work in a 15 floor building in NYC, now I don't get the BEST reception in my corner of the building. At most I get between 2-3 bars at my desk. I have a Linksys Router that my Blackberry can connect to about 10ft from me.

I connect the BB to the router and all is fine. Now after a short while the phone starts flipping back and forth between UMA and EDGE. Are they fighting eachother for what should be used as the connection? Now i can turn one on and turn off the other, but that is a pain in the arse. Then you have to remember to turn back on your EDGE when you leave the Wifi area.

I'm just wondering if there is any way to fine tune the phone to realize when a trusted already used WiFi spot comes up, USE IT ONLY, and don't go trying to balance out between WiFi and EDGE. There is a time and place for each, lol.

Now i have the latest and greatest in software for the 8320, and i keep up with all updates. But I could use some suggestions!

Try Manage Connections > Mobile Network Options > Connection Preference

Set it to Wi-Fi Preferred. That should make it stick to the wifi until you leave the area.

Does anyone have any other suggestions on what might be causing this type of issue. I have very poor cell coverage at home and am trying my 8220 out, using the Wifi option. However I get this 'bouncing' back and forth when at home, even after I have set my Wifi prefered settings. The bouncing is bad enough to drain the battery overnight.

They sent me a second phone to test and it is doing the same thing. I am starting to think it might be a router setting, any suggestions?
