Our company replaced the business phone field in the GAL so that it shows an inter-office prefix plus the extension. ex. 453-2323 in place of (333) 333-2323.

The problem is when you do a lookup on someone from your device, this number shows up as the work number and can't be used. Is there any way to make the business 2 phone number from the GAL show up as the work number when doing a lookup? Or maybe add to the fields that a lookup can display? I searched and found someone that put the full number in the pager field in the GAL, then setup a Global PIM sync to map it to the device as the work number. This works but makes the GAL inaccurate.

There is no Business2 in the GAL - that's why people use the pager field and then map it.

After doing a bunch of research on this topic, the only solution I have found is to put the full telephone number in the pager field in Active Directory for the user. Then setup global pim synch so that the pager field is set to "work phone" on the device. This way when you do lookups against the GAL, it pulls the pager field from AD and displays it as "work" on the device.

Unless someone else has a better solution?
