Default Weather Channel Application

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone tried the Weather Channel application 2.0 for the Blackberry? I downloaded the app and it works fine, except the GPS location tracking. I confirmed that my GPS is working correctly through the GPS settings page on my Bold, but when in the application I ask it to 'Find Me', then select either 'Find me once' or 'Find me always', i get a message that my location can't be found. Anyone else with the same problem? Any fixes or suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Okay update - The location feature now seems to work so once in a while. Must need a clear view of the sky to use TWC location feature, whereas other apps like Google Maps do not since it uses aGPS.

You should get an SMS message from TWC with a link to download the application. I also received this email as a confirmation. See if you can contact the number below.

"Shortly, you can expect to receive a mobile receipt by text message. Delivery time can vary based on your carrier and location. If you do not receive a text message receipt please contact Customer Support at 206-223-0787"

Why does Weather Channel and WeatherBug expect BlackBerry owners to pay for a MONTHLY service fee while iPhone people don't?

I can justify paying a one time fee, like Garmin GPS, but I can not justify a monthly subscription. That is just plain nuts, and greedy.

Why does AT&T expect me to pay $10 / month for their mapping software when Garmin just charges $99 one time fee for life of phone? I also don't understand why they [AT&T] blocks BlackBerry Maps? They are two entirely different applications! It does the same pretty much as Google Maps! They both don't do Turn-By-Turn directions! RIM should had told AT&T to Eff Off like Nokia did when AT&T asked them to remove Nokia Maps!

Subscription issues aside, who has this installed yet? Is it any better than the free apps? I use it on my iPhone and it's very well done, so I'm curious how well it's implemented on the BB.

I've had it for awhile now on the Bold. Mostly like it. But data download is slow and it doesn't save, so if you check twice in an hour you have to wait again. Also the font on the Bold is very small, they told me several months ago they were working on it but nothing so far.

I used in on the Treo and wanted in on the Bold, but it's not as good as it was on the TREO

I personally like My-Cast weather better, but My-Cast does not have an auto location feature on the BlackBerry, and The Weather Channel app. does.
