Free, I like to bargain with the phone dealer for hours. I opened a family plan and got a Pearl plus 250 dollar cash back. 4 line family plan by the way.

Free from the company, gave it right back for my 8700. Both are at par for awful build quality...

I paid $170 for it at the Cingular store, but later found it at Sams Club for $99. Although it is worth every penny.

Free.

If you use amazon.com or similar places. They give you the phone free(after mail in rebates,) for signing up to a service through them. Cellular companies pay a finding fee for these services. For 2 8100s through Tmobile I paid $123 for next day shipping. $100 of that is a rebate.

Picked up mine through Cingular, did a 1 year contract extension, paid $300 up front, w/ a $50 mail in rebate... Probably could have picked it up cheaper doing it through a different vendor, but I'm an instant gratification kinda guy.
