Charging in the bathroom. Stays on all the time. Generally don't hear the noises for SMS, etc. But I will wake for the ring.

Well mine is usually right next to me, on the nightstand or within reach. I am not that important, but I am a volunteer firefighter, and I it set up so when the CAD dispatches my company, I get a text message. Better than using a pager, (have that also) but that is so loud that it wakes up my wife. So the text message alert is a little easier. Plus I get more information via the text message like cross streets, caller, any info put into the CAD.

Does the sleep mode power the device off?

no it doesn't power it off. You talking about standby mode. The mode you get when you hold the mute button.

I sent mine to Auto Off at 11PM and awake at 10:59PM - I get great battery life (lasts for months) and I get a lot of sleep.

I place my 7130c on the bedside table and reach for it each time I toss and turn just to make sure it's okay. And I toss and turn a lot. If I leave it alone too long, I swear I can hear it crying for me. I guess that's what being single too long can do to a person. Argh!!!! This addiction is too much!

I mean't what are the advantages of auto off? Save battery power? Why wouldn't you do auto off?

Mine sleeps next to me on the nightstand. It stays on 24/7, since this is my only phone (no landline). I don't wake up for the messages but if the phone rings I will. Also, the Pearl is my alarm clock.

Sort of like 'Place it on a nightstand' so thats what I voted but it really goes on top of my chestofdrawers and gets plugged in to charge if needed. Right next to my other daily items like watc, wallet, keys, knife, etc.

When I realized what this was about it made me think of the Seinfeld episode where George Costanza is having sex with his girlfriend and eating a salami sandwich in bed. Anybody remember that? Including your Pearl as a threesome is probably not a good idea.

My Pearl goes on the nightstand, ringer only, alarm set and charge every other night. Check emails when the alarm goes off the next morning.

Great post!

I work from 7PM to 7AM. I listen to my mp3 player all night long so the phone is pretty much dead when i get home. I plug it into the PC, put it in silent mode, and go to bed. It's weird how many people try and call you when you are sleeping in the day time...

As to notifiers and ringtones set,

I have my main e-mail account set to "Nymph," so I never hear that at night.

I have my yahoo account where that yahoo guy says "yahooo hooooo" set to low, so don't hear that at night.

My phone ring is set to high, but I want to hear that if an emergency call comes in.

There is this one girl I have been going out with and when we first started dating she used to call me when she left for work at the airlines, at 5:00 friggin A.M.

Rather than offend her, for a few months I put the phone on silent mode at bedtime.

Ditto kasperapd. Phone only profile and plugged in. Pearl is my alarm clock, so it must stay nearby.

Same as most others.

Nightstand in silent mode. Being in sales you never quite turn your phone off.
