Wirelessly posted (Cingular 7130c: BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)
I would love an extended battery. The battery life in the pearl is horrible.

I might be interested if it does not require us to get a new battery door. If it does than I am not interested in it.
I like the size of the 8100 and I hate to have something sticking out of it.

As long as it's reasonably priced, doesn't affect the size & weight of the phone bring it on. I've just got my pearl and had a Samsung D600 last so i'm coming from 7hrs talktime to probably less than 3 1/2. Save me. But i do the like the pearl so far although still don't understand why i've had to completely wipe my media card to format it then re-load it all again. Anyone answer why?

How come BB cannot put 210mAh into the standard battery and someone else can?

Actually there is a lot of spce between the battery and the battery cover. One would just need to remove the sponge one the batery cover and there would be like a few millimeters of space for the battery.

Yeah, like others have said, I'd pay a premium price for an extended battery but it must retain the original form factor. No bulging replacement back cover or other kludge like that.

I tried putting the battery from my 8700, which is slightly thicker and while it did fit, the battery door was hard to put back on and bulged out slightly.
Get a car charger and call it a day.

Depends, if you can pack more into the same dimension then yes, I'd pay a premium for that.
If it changes the dimensions of the phone, then no I wouldn't be interested.

Considering all the battery problems that've come up in the past months, with even Sony getting nailed hard, I would want one hell of a warranty on any third-party extended batteries. If Seidio would cover replacing my Pearl if the battery exploded, I'd be game. But I suspect that's not likely.

I thought since the 8700 only RIM batteries worked in RIM devices? I know for a fact that the battery from my 7100 doesn't work in my Pearl. The new battery has a "lock" symbol on it that the old battery does not. I assume they are doing some sort of check on the battery...
that being said, I agree with other posters - fatter battery pack => no thanks.

Pearl reads FAT, not FAT32. if you've formatted the media card in Windows it auto-formats for FAT32. Hopefully RIM will fix that sooner rather than later.
