No java error yet either!!
Is auto dim therefore LOCKED on/enabled? That would keep me from installing it.

I LOATHE auto dim.

So it's locked OFF? (Which be better imho) I'm confused. Is auto dim just no longer an option with this upgrade and screen brightness is simply based on the precentage setting?

Thanks.

Read from the top. This update was issued by Rogers.
You can run it on T-Mobile's 8100. Read the thread from the top.
Please.

It's not for T-Mobile. But it can be used on the Tmo 8100. All OS releases are from RIM, just different versions come out at different times from different vendors.

There is some how-to stuff round here (some in this thread) which will assist you in installing it on your 8100.

Good Luck!

I can, and did, read from the top. I was replying to his specific post that seemed to indicate he had a T-Mobile branded update.

The message I quoted. And I didn't say there was an update for T-Mobile, hence the question I asked to topspeedtop.

I am going to interpret his response differently - he installed the update ON a T-Mobile 8100 and the Dim option went away.

Again, there is no update from T-Mobile yet.

I checked on BlackBerry Upgrade and it is not there.

Auto dim is locked on period no way to shut it off since the option is now gone with the update. No more java.null error so far though!

For those who have downloaded and installed already... Does this come with any other themes?

Anybody else have white lines running down the sides after updating? Its only when using custom wallpapers.

So here's a question...what advantages/disadvantages would you get if you install this on a T-Mobile 8100 vs the T-Mobile branded update when it comes out?

RIM writes all the code. The carriers test it and release as they wish. Interesting that Rogers put this code out there when they haven't released the 8100 yet.

IMHO there are no disadvantages to loading this code. And who know what version T-Mobile may come out with.

But since the carrier releases it does the carrier have the ability to take something away that was originally in the release?

Apparently this version removes the dimming capability that many people (including me) turned off anyway. If you mean losing T-Zones or some functionality, no...

If it makes you nervous, do not apply it and wait for T-Mobile.
