Our market is trying to push the horizontal pouch cases for the sda, or even the ones for the razr as cases for the 8100... Personally I do not like these types of cases.

I saw someone was using the case the 7100 comes with, which I love. I like cases/holsters I can clip to the inside of my pocket. I was using my 7100 case, and it fits a little loose, but I like it better in there then sitting at the bottom of my pocket.

My only problem is when I use the mute key to put it in stand bye mode, and then drop it in my 7100 case, the magnets seem to take it out of stand bye mode. This also unlocks my keypad.

It seems if I manually lock the keypad and then put it in there, the keypad will stay locked. Is there a short cut key to lock the keypad, not using the mute key stand bye method? I don't want to have to use the keypad lock as one of my top five icons so I can quickly get to it.

Is anyone else having trouble with the magnetic sleep function? I understand since I’m putting it in sleep that when it passes the magnets it might think I’m taking the 8100 out of the case so it turns it on... But when I have it on and I put it in the case it doesn’t automatically put it in standby like my other bb's. It can awaken but not sleep? Seems wierd and just want to make sure I'm not over looking something stupid.

I too have had the problem in the pocket issue, however picked up a case from bestbuy tonight that fits it nicely and has a magnetic closure flap. The only problem is when the phone is on vibrate you can barely feel it now when it is clipped on you and in the case....please let me know what other solutions you all come up with.

Yea.. this is not good. Just got the phone today and have only missed one call due to this. We need to get the word out to BB to make an update. I really don't like cell phones hanging on my side and have kept my last phone in a pocket for years. I don't want to switch now but need to get calls.

Argh.

I submitted it to engadget. Don't know if they will notice, might be an engadget mobile article.

Let's all send an email to: [email address] ... Thats what I do when I would like features or changes to the device. I know I'm going to complain since one reason I bought this phone was to be able to stick it in my pocket.

Especially on the weekends! Also, it really to bad it didn't come with a case.

its funny because RIM makes us put the phone in our pocket and then we have this problem. it could have all been solved if they actually thought about everyday use of this phone plus supplied a holster. its like someone who doesnt use cell phones designed this one.

No I know the kind of people who design it and their process is very strange.

This is definitely a major problem - I can see lots of folks getting upset about this. Tell me again, how do you spell LEMON? Hey - this must be the new version - Lemonberry

BTW, has anyone tried contacting RIM support directly?

That's why I try not to make any major purchases right after release. Sure its nice to be the first kid on the block with a shiny new toy but the downside of this perk is that you're also a beta tester/bug tracker for unfinished products.

I'm glad I returned my 8100...

At 20% you can roll it quite a bit before accidently "cancelling" the call.
what's the audible roll setting?

If you hold down the silver speaker button on the top, it puts it into standby mode, just like the magnet does when in a case. It still accepts calls and messages without the trackball issue. I tried it by calling my phone and it worked fine.

This is a critical critical flaw.
We need to notify RIM.. This could probably be an easy firmware fix.

wow that's weird. I held down the speaker button as well. I hit a bunch of buttons to make sure it was locked and then placed a call. The caller screen shows up and I lightly brusehd the trackball, call stops ringing. I then hung up the test phone and my BB screen was still locked. So the trackball is not locking basically.

Well it locks but when you get a call the trackball unlocks.
