Default BlackBerry syncing question

Please Login to Remove!

I have my BlackBerry Style synced to Windows 7. I got a MacBook and want to sync my phone to it. Will I lose any data on my phone? Thanks

Synced to Windows 7? Do you mean Outlook?

You shouldn't lose data, but when electrons and computers are concerned, one never knows.

Are you going to do a 2 way sync or a one way (BB to Mac)?

I synced the BlackBerry through the BlackBerry program on Windows 7.

I no longer use that Windows 7 computer since I got this MacBook Pro. I want to sync my BlackBerry to the Mac through the BlackBerry program on the computer. I want to know if I will lose data. On iTunes it says I have to erase everything on my iPod if I want to sync it (I own around 5 ipods.. only one syncs to the mac.) I'm wondering if the BlackBerry app will prompt me to do the same thing.

Basically, I want to back-up my BlackBerry on the Mac.

Are you talking about syncing or backing it up to the computer? Those are two completely different things?

If you are talking about syncing, then as indicated above, you need to specify to what (eg Outlook) you are syncing.

If you are talking about backing up the device to the computer, then you will continue to be able to do that without "losing data".

Syncing means that your computer and your BlackBerry are to be brought to the same state. One generally syncs BlackBerries to the sate found on the computer. Backup is another option that will copy the data from the BlackBerry to your computer.

You can do both, but since I am not a Mac user, I would recommend running a backup first, then making the state you wish it to be and setting up the synchronization.
