Default Duplicate messages on BB and cannot access BIS site

Please Login to Remove!

Okay, I spent hours trying to search this and other forums. I even talked to my IT guy, who couldn't figure it out. Here's my problem:

- I have a blackberry world edition through Verizon, which was issued by my firm (it's on the enterprise server).

- I added my gmail account, and every time I send an email from that account on my blackberry, I get a duplicate email sent back to me.

- Before you flame me and say it was discussed to death, I read the instructions.

- But I cannot access the BIS wesbite. When I try to create an account, it says my pin already has one. When I try to log in, I have no idea what the password is. My IT guy doesn't even know what the BIS is.

- Can anyone please help? Also, is there a way to segregate my gmail emails from work emails? My gmail emails come into both my gmail inbox and work inbox.

Your IT guy won't have your BIS password. On the home page for BIS, you can click Forgot Password to retrieve it. BlackBerry Internet Service

To separate BES and BIS, you'll need a 3rd party app like the one from Empower called Empower BES Mailbox.

kjjb0204 -- Thanks for the quick reply. I tried that, and I got a message saying that there was no username or password.

Call Verizon. They should be able to tell you what's happening with your PIN. Where did your company get the device? Was it new?

Yup, it's new (got it 3 months ago). It's the Verizon World Edition. I can't call Verizon without going through the IT guys, because the blackberry belongs to the firm.

You can still call them, or get your IT guy to call with you. Or, deal with the duplicates.

The problem could also be that you have AUTO BCC checked in the account set up on BIS.

Use the email setup wizard and at the bottom of the page that loads there should be a link that says something like "create user name" or something like that. Use that, assign a user name and login and you should be able to access the BIS setup page for Verizon from a browser after that.

OP, I have renamed your thread. Please use more descriptive titles than, for example, "Help me pls"
Seriously, more people will read your threads if they are titled appropriately.

Heh heh -- now this one has been discussed to death.

Messages isn't your work inbox. It's a universal inbox. All email, SMS, MMS, PIN, etc will arrive in Messages.

Thanks, everyone. Nothing worked so I came up with a highly sophisticated solution: I gave up and added a new Yahoo account. =) Takeshi -- My IT person tells me that my personal emails do not go through the office server (and it doesn't show up on my Outlook). Is there any way for my firm to access my personal emails without physically taking my blackberry?

If its a company device and you are on BES, they can see anything you do on your bb, including BIS emails, PIN messaging and web browsing history. If you don't want them to see what you're doing, don't do it on their BB. I have no idea what percentage of companies actually look at users' personal data, but you never know...

Wirelessly posted

Was a company provided blackberry? They should set up BIS for you or not, depending what the company policy is. I wouldn't even bother adding my stuff to a company phone unless I paid for the phone *and* the account. If they reimburse me after that, then maybe I would add company email to the phone.

The reason for the gmail spam is due to the conversation handling on gmail. You need to add a rule to not forward emails from your @gmail address back to the handheld.

As for the reset of it you can click the recover password and type in your pin and I believe you get a pin message sent to you displaying your password(assuming pin isn't banned due to IT policy).
