PEACE FROM THE M/P/L/S....

I just upgraded to .102 and it's a lot better than .81. I just hope that it doesn't freak out like .81 did.

I look at these steps below, but when I go to update apps, a window pops up that says "Device Connection" and asks me for my PIN password...how can I get that? my os is gone...what do I do?

Install OS and Restore

1. Open Desktop Manager and select Application Loader

2. Install the OS by following the prompts and selections

3. The device will reboot. It can take up to 15 minutes for the 1st boot.

4. Restore the previously made backup or re-sync

5. Install the battery back into the device and unplug from the PC

Now I've really searched around...I think I could just reinstall it all if only I could get the Desktop manager to recognize my phone...is this the PIN issue? I can't find anyway around this....please help me out..

did you delete the vendor.xml file. if not , Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader..

Do you think it's YOUR PHONES PIN? GO TO TOOLS IN YOUR BB AND YOUR PIN IS LOCATED UNDER STATUS OPTION..

I can't get into my blackberry as the OS is f@$%'d! 507 error...

ANYWAY..just fixed it...whew...no password needed...OS is up and running...thank GOD! And thanks to all who helped with ideas.
No idea why it didn't work the first time...could it be that I didn't format my media card first? I heard that might be a problem..always format before OS install...

I upgraded to v4.5.0.81 a few weeks ago. A lot of new features (I previously had v4.2). But I am experiencing a couple of problems. 1. It seems much slower (more so when you first turn on the device). A lot of hourglasses (sometimes I need to pull the batterry). 2. While on the web (using the standard browser) I get the follow error often ...The page you requested could not be loaded; it is too large for the device.

I recently upgraded to a Bold and gave my old wife the Pearl. Now she is complaining that it is slow. Before I gave it to her I did wipe the device and reloaded v4.5.0.81. I haven't loaded too much on it and it has more than 10mb of memory available.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking about try v4.5.0.134. I rather not downgrade back to v4.2.

10Mb of space on a Pearl is VERY low. Free up some memory. Most of the Pearls can get upwards of 30Mb free. You should never have less than 20Mb on an 8100.

To be a little bit more accurate, i have 17 mb free. The only thing i loaded after the software upgrade is epocrates (according to their website it needs about 10mb). Does it make sense that i should have about 17 mb free after v4.5.0.81 and epocrates? Thanks.

Didn't format the card prior to the install, which I know I should've done... so of course it was rebooting like crazy. Took it out, and everything is peachy. Now, will a regular format to the card on the pc clear the problem?

Is it okay to mix match different version of OS? What I meant was I already upgrade my Pearl to run v4.5.0.102 multilanguages. However I would like to add some East Asian languages too, eg. Chinese.

Is it okay to only add the Chinese.alx from this 4.5.0.81 version and add it on top of my multi-lang v4.5.0.102? I don't want to get any more "App. Error 523" Just want to see if anybody already tried it.

In the v4.2 days, I could do that for sure.

I will give it a try anyway.

Thanks!!

Tried to add the "CJK.alx" from the 4.5.0.81 OS to my BB Pearl. Desktop Manager gave me this:

"No additional applications designed for your device where found!"

Other .alx stopped working too. Don't know what's wrong with my DM. It is v4.7.0.32
