Thanks Shaun. I just moved up from a three year old Treo 650. On the Treo there was an option to add an attachment to sms text messages (I believe they were sms)
Essentially that's what you're doing, it's just called MMS when there's media attached to it. Go to your pictures, highlight the picture you want to send, and press Menu > Send as MMS.

No, from the picture menu, the only options are email, bb messenger, and bluetooth. I suppose a work around would be to figure out the recipients 'phonenumber@gateway.theircarrier.com'. But that's a pain and I guarantee my friends wouldn't know that!
