Yep... done that.... the options are as follows:

Refresh Networks
Refresh Signal Levels (grayed)
Statistics
Test WWAN Device (grayed)
Run Wizard

To the right of the signal level indicators it says (NationalAccess - Broadband Access)

Normally (with the 720) I would see a RevA indicator... not so here... but then again, with the 720 I was in a known RevA area...

Thanks.... I truly appreciate your perseverance... are you sure that Cleveland is a RevA area??? right next to the airport is where I am... VZ has been almost worthless in helping with accurate info... but not for a lack of trying.. I'll give them that.

ok... I think I'm convinced that I'm currently in a RevA area... so now the question is.... does the 8130 tether at RevA speeds?? The 720 gave me over 1M download speeds in Myrtle Beach with the RevA indicator on VZAcess Manager. My 8130 tethered in Cleveland, give about a third that performance with no RevA indicator... wondering if there is some sort of setting on VZAcess manager. Your thumbnail showed the RevA indicator.. was that a tethered 8130?

It might very well be Rev A compatible, but you can get that download speed with Rev. 0.... what's your upload ?

Here's a better question...

Your speed should match mine, right? Regardless of Rev-A.

upload speeds are really the major difference between RevA and Rev0 (I think). Does your VZAccess Manager show RevA (or Rev0). Can't tell by the thumbnail... kind of small.

vzwire... those numbers seem to indicate RevA... once again, is that what shows on your VZAccess Manager? (I'm assuming tethered to 8130... that's pretty definitive if it shows RevA).

Ok....I looked and the Pearl DOES NOT indicate Rev-A capability.
Just to be sure I was on the right track, I checked the USB 720, and it did say it was Rev-A.

So maybe it isn't Rev-A.

But, It still doesn't change the fact that I am downloading at 1.5mb, & 512 upload.

I'm sorry, I don't use VZaccess manager. I use a manual connection for my tethered PEARL.

OH...JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING>>>dial *22899 from your pearl, take out the battery, then try again. This should update your phone. Do you want instructions on how to create a manual connection?

Rev-O NEVER runs at 1.5mb's. It Peaks at that spead. (spikes)
It runs in the 400kb's to 600kb's....

Rev-A, however, RUNS at 1.5mb's, and peaks at 2.4mb's. (so they say)

Just to clear things up.

let me add that the last 'official word' that I got from VZW came from my sales rep. He indicated that his network engineer said that a firmware rewrite will make the 8130 revA compatable... with no more information as to if and when that might happen. But then again, I have gotten enormous amount of conflicting info from everywhere (within VZ). I have documented emails that say it IS revA capable. I have others that say NO. Can't figure how a company can provide a service and not know any of the details.

Start> Settings> Control Panel> Internet Options> Connections> Add>

-Dial-up Private Network
-Select your phone in the list
-put in the phone number #777
-Do not use smart card
-Rename to whatever you'd like
-Finish
Username: (your number)@vzw3g.com ex:
Password: vzw
*do not put in a domain*
-Finish

Then
Start> Settings> Control Panel> Network Connections
You will see the connection you just created.
Right-click on it and click "create shortcut" to "desktop"

Now close all that out.

double-click on the new icon on your desktop and you should connect.
(the password will appear longer than you origionally typed, that's ok)

Whew, hope this helps!

I would bet my left....eye , that it is Rev-A. Otherwise there is no way I could surf at that speed. And, really, don't hold the front-line rep so accountable...most of them are just kids. We'll get this figured out if it kills us! You *22899 yet?

do you mean that you select air card even when you have the 8130 connected?
