sameiro 25 .... have a look at the second post on page 1 .... great info per phone carrier. Follow San Fran's instruction and then enter your carrier'S specific info. Best of luck .... someone on this board will have your answer !!

wap.cingular as the #
as the username (case sensitive)
CINGULAR1 as the pw (case sensitive)

Disregard. There was a missing " in my init string.

Hi Bob,

Have you managed to use your BB as a modem in the UK? If so, what did you enter for the connection settings?

The initialisiation string if you're on the UK O2 network is:

+cgdcont=1,"IP","mobile.o2.co.uk"

You may need to do a battery pull to reboot.

It is not a free connection, I still get charged for the data downloaded. Look HERE also.

Trying to install a Pearl as a modem as instructed in thread http://www.blackberryforums.com/blac...em-laptop.html

When I click Query Modem in Phone and Modem Options I get an "OpenComm" error: "The port that the modem is attached could not be opened. This may be the result of a hardware conflict. Check the device manager to verify all devices are functional."

All ports seem fine.

"Standard Modem" is on COM4. Under Ports in the Device Manager the RIM Virtual Serial Port v2 is listed on both COM4 and COM5.

Running Vista on a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop.

Any suggestions welcome.

Mine used to work like a charm. But I got a new Pearl, and it's sketchy...basically, it'll let me connect initially, but the Internet will stop working after a few minutes. It'll still say the Blackberry is connected, but all my my computer applications will disconnect. Any suggestions?
