I was planning on getting my first Blackberry and now I think I'll have to wait and see if RIM fixes this issue. I don't mind the case but I would prefer not having to use it. Yes the case should not BE the fix.

Sounds like something they would say to get you off the phone... but I hope it is true!

What is an SDR? Can you expand on this?

Default Ringer issue

While I agree that this is an issue if you keep it in a pocket (a tight one), I actually appreciated the fact that it muted with a roll twice today in a meeting, when the phone rang I just grabbed it and rolled the ball to silence it. I didnt really think to go for the mute button, it just seemed natural to roll the ball and I (this being the first time I had done this) was quite pleased that it silenced at that point.

I remember thinking..."thats cool it mutes after a roll, obviously since we are rolling between answer and reject - we have already been notified of the call and dont need to be reminded with more rings"

At the time it seemed logical, but I can see the issue with a pocket. This hasn't affected me yet, but I keep mine in a shirt pocket so it's not as tight as jeans or otherwise.

Just in case any of you missed the "8100 4.2.0_rel61_PL2.2.0.32_A4.2.0.51" THREAD there now seems to be a fix! I don't have the pearl yet but if more people can verify the fix then I think I might have to stop by and get one. ;)

ps
I don't have enough posts so i couldn't post the link to the thread, so you'll have to search for it.

Default you CAN post url no matter how many posts you submitted !!!

A little bit off track, however i hate to see people whining about not being able to post urls, i could do that even with 1 post...

Just chop off the beginning of the url, eg.

instead of

http://www.blackberryforums.com

just put

blackberryforums.com

Everybody should be able to tell that's an url, if not...you are doomed, sorry

OK... this is crazy. I just bought a Pear at a Rogers dealer. But my problem is the exact opposite. Im running Ver 4.2.0.51(platform 2.2.0.32).
Here is my problem. When a call comes in that I want to ignore, I move the trackball down to ignore. I do not click ignore though. The call will stop ringing but will start back up again. On my 8700, when I scrolled to Ignore, ringing would stop completely. I didnt have to click on Ignore then either. I know all I have to do is just click ignore when Im on it and that will solve the problem. But sounds like my issue is backwards to everyone elses

Your issue is not backwards. That's the way the .51 OS works. Moving the trackball interrupts the current ring tone, but the next ring will still be audible unless you confirm the "ignore" by clicking.

I just intalled this upgrade and it fixed the problem with the pearl motion silencing ring tone.

Backed up my device; then installed the new OS, then restored my device and all's hunky dory, except need a reactivation from my BES after the OS upgrade.

Seems to be a much better OS... thanks!!

Update your OS to this if it isn't already: Follow instructions in the OS upgrade sticky in the General Blackberry discussion..

I guess I'm lucky because the phone still rings even though I'm rolling the ball like crazy. I tried it w/ standby and key lock; still works perfectly fine.

Smile Is the over now?

I got a new Pearl on saturday, and I was very shocked to find this thread, but after gaming the issue out, the pearl keeps ringing regardless of how many times the trackball is being rolled.

So, is this over now, or should I simply consider myself lucky?

This is an old thread. This bug was fixed with later software releases.

It's over!
