Unhappy Inbox Subfolders - No Messages Appear

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,
I have recently setup a single user on Blackberry Professional Express on an Exchange server. Everything seems to operate normally on the Blackberry, the user can send and receive messages, his contacts are visible, and his calendar updates with Outlook. However, when the user tries to view a sub folder of his Inbox, no messages appear in said sub folder when it is opened. I have ensured that in the Blackberry Manager, under the folders for redirection for the user, all sub folders of the inbox are selected. Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance for the help!

only new messages will appear in the subfolders once you enable the folders for redirection with an existing phone

Well darn. This is what I do not understand though, his Blackberry has synced his Inbox; it looks exactly the way it does in Outlook, same messages from long before he got his Blackberry. Why would it not do the same for the sub folders? I am guessing there is no way to force the Blackberry to "pull" these emails outside of resending all the emails one by one (which in this case would be unacceptable due to the incredibly large volume of emails in the numerous sub folders. We're talking thousands)...

Dont know, if this helps, but here is a workaround:
If you need something out of a folder which is/was not synchronized:
you can always do a remote search, takes a little time, depending on the load on your exchange server, but you will find all mails you need.

Also, you cant store all mails on the device. Normally, mail older then 60 days will be automatically removed from the BB, if you dont "save" it.

I don't think remote search is available on BPS. I'm pretty sure this was added to full BES starting with SP5.

you are probably right, I have not read the post thoroughly.
But just one week ago I did setup a BPS. I ask the guy and post back if it exists.

So I am going to try wiping the phone, deleting his account from Blackberry Manager, recreating his account in Blackberry Manager, selecting all the subfolders of his inbox for redirection, and finally activating his phone in Blackberry Manager. I'll post back if this works.
Wish me luck!

It won't work.
Only the Inbox messages will pre-populate on the device, based on the limits set on BES.
Default 5 days, 200 messages... maximum 14 days, 750 messages.

Overview

During the enterprise activation process, the Prepopulation of email messages will redirect email messages to the BlackBerry smartphone. By default, only messages in the Inbox will be redirected.

To redirect email messages within a subfolder of the BlackBerry smartphone user's profile, perform the following steps before initial activation:

1. Open BlackBerry Manager.
2. Select the server list.
3. Add the BlackBerry smartphone user to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
4. Select the User > Service Access > Choose Folders for redirection.
5. Select the folders to redirect to the BlackBerry smartphone.
6. Select the folders and subfolders that are to be redirected to the BlackBerry smartphone.
7. Activate the BlackBerry smartphone either through the enterprise activation process, or by cradling the BlackBerry smartphone.

For details on how to configure BlackBerry Enterprise Server pre-population settings, see KB11632.
------------------------

So wouldn't this allow some of the messages to pre-populate on the phone if it was combined with the steps in my previous post?
