Default VZW and IRC problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys....I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I bought my 8330 back in September 2008 and being an IRC junkie immediately installed jmirc. These days I really only connect to Efnet. Up until December/January I had no problems whatsoever. Since January, I can not connect to ANY Efnet servers at all! I constantly get visitors to #blackberry on Efnet who are experiencing the same situation with Verizon service. AT&T and Tmobile customers are having no problems at all connecting via jmirc. I haven't had any conversations with Sprint customers so I just don't know.

This really bugs me - especially because I can totally see Verizon blocking this intentionally, however, it doesn't seem to be the case because I can connect to other networks (Freenode, for example).

Does anyone here connect to Efnet servers with their BlackBerry via jMirc with Verizon service? I would love some guidance on this...

Verizon has probably blocked something at their firewall.

So, you think its blocking access to Efnet specifically - because I can connect to Freenode servers on port 6667... I think I'm going to contact Verizon. I'm sure it will take 20 e-mails of "Uh....what?" before I reach someone with half a brain...

I love Verizon. Never a dropped call - good data speed... But its things like this, and GPS and tethering and COST that tick me off... Oh well... Such is life.

It's entirely possible. They may have blocked Efnet's TCP port.
